Watching Ss Tch @misstrpstr change her (SC)^2 lesson for all three hrs was incredible today. 1st-Directions given verbally, Ss solved on Tch time. 4th-Directions written in board, Tch gave suggested time. 6th-Directions in screen, Ss at own pace, answers at tables. @ProfJonh

Using @Kahoot or @quizizz or @gimkit is even better when a teacher takes time to go over common mistakes with the whole class. Allow Ss to give their own explanations so others hear diff ideas. #miched #mschat #flipclasschat @misstrpstr

One thing that struck me from #TTG chapter 3 & 4 is the lack of interruptions in a Japanese classroom. The US is very quick to interrupt the whole school for a small non-urgent announcement. I never thought about how disruptive this can be to learning. #edi331

Teaching mathematics is much more than just teaching the "what?" It is teaching the "why?" and in doing so we teach important 21st century skills that apply to life outside the classroom. The third workshop in #edi331 covers how this is incorporated into math education.
