@MissRLittle@Brayden07339463 Students can get a better hands-on learning experience through outdoor learning. For my professional placements, I have seen the difference in engagement when having a lesson outside compared to inside.
@HelenaEcimovic@BronteDavis3 I agree! Within my unit, there is a big community project in which I have decided that critical and creative thinking is one of the best suited general capabilities for the students.
@Tull1Amy @Rebekah18336751 This idea could even be used as a fundraiser at the school. For example the Year 6 formal. Thye could set up a system throughout the year and raise money for their events.
How cool would it be to have an art show planned to include all local schools! The theme would be recycling and all schools would be able to create artworks out of recycled goods and then placed them on display for the community to see!

What a great creative arts activity, I will be incorporating artwork like this into my #educ4750 unit! Students can utilise recycled materials and collaboratively create the artwork. Will you be incorporating creative arts into your unit plan? If so, how? #UoNTeach
@Mitchel48981334 My unit is placing a big importance on recycling and how this simple task can create a butterfly effect on saving our waters. I think is also important for students to learn why the oceans are important to us and our survival.
@ReaghanGhys This could lead to either a class debate, one side is proposing the ideas and the other side is the government. Or could lead to a persuasive writing lesson.
term 1 is the perfect time to implement this slogan around the schools to help with correct recycling. Students can then go home and teach their families the slogan

GATHER! SCRUNCH! POP!
Great advice here from East Waste about aluminium, if we recycle it correctly we can save 95% of the energy required to produce it!
Ensure you dispose your egg wrappers properly this Easter!
What do you think? @NathanA49263875#EDUC4750#UoNTeach#SDG12
ICT lesson!
Great way to engage the students with a scratch lesson on coding!
Giving the students a sense of belonging and ownership is key for change in todays society! #UoNTeach#SDG14
@MrHansen96@ACARAeduau critical and creative thinking is one of my general capabilities, this format makes it a lot easier to identify where my students will need to be aiming and can help create success criteria through the unit of work. thanks for sharing!
My unit of work will include an integration of science. The approach to science will be hands-on and engaging to students as this strongly links with play-based learning. If you want to learn more about hands on science just follow this article:

Reducing inequality is one of the first things you learn as a pre-service teacher. This report places evidence on how play-based learning has the potential to reduce inequality within a classroom.

In my unit of work students will work together to create a recycling system within the school, through this they can then integrate a unit of art and create artworks from recycled materials to be displayed at a local art show

Came across this over the weekend! An amazing way to use recycled bottles to create artworks that can be displayed within the classroom, around the school or even around the community.

This could lead to students practising persuasive writing within the classroom. Could even lead to a group activity in which they create a persuasive letter together to send to Nestle.

Only 1% of #Nestlé’s packaging is reusable
This is a drop in the ocean of their plastic waste. Today they are meeting for their shareholder meeting✏️
TAKE ACTION, tell @Nestle to be better & commit to 50% reuse & refill by 2030!>> https://t.co/RhRQObThLX

This amazing website offers free resources that can be linked with the NSW curriculum. All resources are aimed at young people to learn the importance of plastic and recycling

Only a short video, however, contains a wide range of facts and information on plastic pollution. This video could potentially be used when students conduct a research project in line with #SDG14.

@coast4c helps local fishing communities in the Philippines learn how to farm and sell seaweed; a vital ingredient in food and cosmetics as well as bioplastics. This helps them become more resilient to climate change, restore the marine ecosystem and lock carbon in the ocean.
