'Solving the workforce crisis means working to make nursing courses more attractive, retain current nurses, and encourage those who have left the profession to return to practice, and undertaking ethical international recruitment.'

Political choices are the root of NHS pressures, not the cold weather or seasonal flu, says @TimGardnerTHF.

THREAD: Energy Bill Support Grant. I have just been notified that I will get £67 a month off my energy bills under the govt scheme. For enormous numbers of people this support will be absolutely vital. But it won't be vital for everyone, and that includes me. (PLS RT) 1/
I know the health and care policy works can get itself overly excited about some things. But for some perspectives let’s me be clear about what matters this week and what doesn’t.
Such sad times. Just heard about the death of Alan Nobbs @Alannobbs. Alan was one of the best people I ever worked with. He was a developer of leaders, champion for well-being & passionate advocate & activist for improvement in the NHS. Alan was just an outstanding human being.
So here it is. What health policy land have been waiting for. The new and improved @TheKingsFund animation on how the NHS works in England - reflecting all the latest inc the recent Act. We hope you find it as helpful as you found the last. #KFExplain https://t.co/qsFO2dpoE8
Rising cost of living in UK not only about no heating or enough food but also the constant mental toll of not being able to pay bills, not knowing when things will get better & worrying how to survive each day & raise a family- this kind of stress leads to chronic health issues.
"If you have to worry about whether you have food for dinner that evening, and for the rent on Friday, you have little space to think about anything else. Such stress can permanently affect the development of your children". https://t.co/TWc20qHwOo
👏 Ministers have just amended #HealthAndCareBill to require #NHS orgs to consider how their decisions impact health inequalities.
Tackling health inerqualities is now integral to the 'Triple Aim' designed to guide NHS decision making, as argued for by @TheKingsFund + others.
With NHS waiting lists at 6million, access to GPs a struggle for many and more besides, the large difference on which Party is trusted to improve the NHS is going to become significant 👇🏻
No idea about the legality of it, but I don't think that "You can't sue me for sexual assault because 12 years ago one of my sex-offender friends paid you to promise that you wouldn't ever sue any of his friends for sexual assault" is a great look
One last thread from me of the year- on what’s really happening inside the NHS/social care
Again, it’s a service fighting on the outer edge of what it can do- this time battling enormous staff absence and exhaustion rather than (for the time being anyway) huge Covid numbers...
On 12 Dec @BorisJohnson asked NHS & local govt to massively expand booster campaign at huge pace. Latest data & like for like days (Tues 7 Dec to Tues 21) show boosters administered has gone from 391k to 968k a day (a 2.5x increase) in fortnight. R/T if you agree this is amazing!
Can I just say, if you're unvaccinated, and change your mind but worried about people judging you at the vaccination center, this will absolutely not be the case.
We will welcome you with open arms.
