America, SpaceX has done it.
China achieved it very recently.
Now it's India's turn.
Agnikul Cosmos, a Chennai based private space startup incubated at IIT Madras, announced it will launch an orbital class rocket (Mission 02) and attempt to recover its first stage booster, India's first such effort.
This comes shortly after China achieved its first orbital rocket booster recovery, following SpaceX’s pioneering reusability successes.
The two stage Agnibaan vehicle will feature a controlled descent and ocean recovery of the booster, powered by the world’s first single piece 3D printed semi cryogenic engine.
Simultaneously, the upper stage will demonstrate extended in orbit capability by converting into a functional platform rather than being expended.
Former ISRO chairman S. Somanath has joined Agnikul’s board as an observer. The mission aims to advance rocket reusability, which is now seen as essential for competitive launch economics.
Agnikul previously conducted a successful suborbital flight (Mission 01) in May 2024 from India’s first private launchpad at Sriharikota. The company holds key patents in India, the US, and Europe.

Chief Minister Vijay is visiting his constituency today.
What's so unique about it?
Media reports that there is not even a single poster or banner.
It is heartening to read this.
His party members should follow his example.
If the ruling party stops this practice, no one else would dare to do it.
From what I see on social media, banners and posters have been removed from most parts of the city. Walls are also being cleaned.
On top of that, someone sent me a video clip. It shows ECR Saravanan, the banner man of Chennai, addressing party cadres and instructing them to use the minimum number of banners without disturbing the public.
A welcome development.
