With supportive experimental data from several immunology research approaches, in vivo vaccination, and in vitro polyclonal activation of T and B cells via antigen receptor stimulation, etc. Please stay tuned for another one.
📢Preprint alert! Very excited to share the first preprint from the lab spearheaded by stellar postdoc @EloiseMLMrqs. An inherited mtDNA mutation remodels inflammatory cytokine responses in macrophages and in vivo. 1/n

@chenweng1991@Nature@JswLab@bloodgenes Congrats, Chen, Fantastic work! did u see mtDNA mutations 'Bottleneck' phenomenon in your datasets? is this a reason that 1/3 clones can be traced?
Hypoxia rescue (& hyperoxia sensitivity) of mito CI mutants is evolutionary conserved! Harnessing the power of worm genetics, Josh Meisel w/ @gary_ruvkun discovers “hypoxia mimetic” and “hypoxia resistant” mutants, yielding key mechanisms. https://t.co/h2CVsAFsGW
Our gratitude goes to our great collaborators in and outside Rorbach lab, Molmets @MolMet_KI , CMMS, GKH, CMM-RH, and MIR. Big thanks to Dr. Xaquin Castro Dopico from Karlsson Hedestam Lab @NillaKH co-drived the discovery process of this phenomenon.
A new study from the Rorbach Lab, out now in @JCI_insight, demonstrates the impact that mtDNA mutations can have on the immune system. Congratulations to Jing @mitoIm50243243, Joanna, and all collaborators on this nice story!

Our preprint back in 2021 is finally out in JCI Insight! We found upon activation, naive T and B cells dislike/purge out high heteroplasmy mt-tRNA mutations during the development of adaptive immune response, leading to mutation burden reduction in memory counterparts.
Open postdoc position! We @MolMet_KI are looking for a postdoc to work on mitochondrial dysfunction in neurodegeneration! @mitopinionated@RobertaFilogra2

Many congratulations to Roberta Filograna @RobertaFilogra2, researcher in Nils-Göran Larsson's group @mitopinionated@MolMet_KI who has received a grant from the Loo and Hans Osterman Foundation to study the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in Parkinson's disease!
Many congratulations to Mara Mennuni, @mara_mennuni postdoc with Prof.Nils-Göran Larsson @mitopinionated who has been awarded a grant from the Alex and Eva Wallström foundation to determine the role of mitochondrial alterations in lung cancer in vivo! @karolinskainst
Our sincere congratulations to @BrodinPetter for winning the Göran Gustafsson Prize in medicine for his pioneering analysis of the early development of the human immune system. We are proud that Olink's technology has played some role in Petter's research: https://t.co/EZK0IrZG0O
