Can we move away from the phrase “dumb it down” - why not call this translation. Patients, clinicians, researchers, etc all speak different languages - I don’t need a dumb version, just a version spoken in my language. #PCORI2018

🔥final #PCORI2022 panel. Particularly appreciated @sinsipuede's right-on comments on addressing racist systems, centering community voice, & rejection of resilience- 'resilience doesn't protect from structural racism'.
Who are the stakeholders that know and understand how to collect cost of health care utilization data…and how does a research team attract them to collaborate? Listening to experts from @RTI_Intl, @NPAF_tweets, @PAHumanServices, and @pcori at #PCORI2022
@SusanLinOT I agree @pcori EA awards have truly moved the needle in relationship building. They are not so great for maintaining relationships though, and research funders other than PCORI are still quite tight-fisted on $$ for this critical aspect of our work.
As #PCORI2022 is winding down, I am left wondering if @PCORI’s methodology standards are sufficiently broad to handle the increasing complexity of addressing root causes of health inequities in #PCOR. What about evidences bases for CER? Thoughts??? #CSHPAtWork
@CSHPatWork is developing a workshop with @PCORI funding for researches to practice building trusting relationships with communities that historically don’t trust research and medical enterprises. Without relationships there is no trust. Listening to KBibbinsDomingo at #PCORI2022
Maybe this is obvious, but it’s also profound. Speaker after speaker at #PCORI2022 is highlighting the importance of trust and relationships to improve health outcomes. Funders take note - this takes a long time with many intangible deliverables & we need room for this in budgets.
Incredibly powerful storytelling from Ashley Valentine
@SickCells. Appreciate her sharing her family's experience as well as the historical context & legacy of racism on #SickleCellDisease patients & families. #PCORI2022
Individuals with #RareDisease face crushing economic burden. For individuals with #SickleCellDisease, the burden is multiplied by systematic racial inequities faced by black and brown people. #PCORI2022. Listening to Ashley Valentine @SickCells at #PCORI2022.
#pcori2022 Advice to health researchers seeking to engage underserved communities: Building trust is the step one in building relationships between community and researchers. Trust is built when researchers show deference to community voices.
@mjedick @CSHPatWork @PCORI @Region4Genetics @MPHIhealth@Hassanah2017 @Poorcountryboy2 @HighDesertGems@mike_mitt ARCC & partners developed an Anti-Racist Reflective Practice Tool for Community-Academic Researchers & Partnerships: https://t.co/VcM5xLqeRD It would be great to see if there are any opportunities for collaboration on this related work... #PCORI2022
#PCORI2022 talking about the transition from community-engaged to community-partnered to community-LED research prioritization and how this will impact our systems of power. It's such an exciting time to be a research trainee!
