Claims of a data breach and privacy violation affecting lakhs of JEE (Advanced) aspirants are misleading and factually incorrect.

The information circulating on social media is misleading and does not accurately reflect what happened. There is an attempt at spreading misinformation, which is far from the truth.

On 2nd June 2026, certain technical interventions were undertaken on an expedited basis to assist candidates experiencing difficulties in accessing admit card data and to ensure the smooth functioning of the registration process. These interventions resulted in a minimal, temporary misconfiguration in a cloud storage component. An ethical hacker, Mr. Rylen Anil, identified this misconfiguration and reported that he could access the concerned database. The issue was immediately rectified and access to the data was restricted.

The affected storage was read only, meaning no data could be edited or deleted. An analysis of cloud access logs confirmed that no bulk download occurred (the read-only access was limited to less than 0.05% of the data). No sensitive information was compromised or mass-extracted. This incident had zero impact on examination outcomes, including marks, ranks, and category of the candidates.

IIT Roorkee remains fully committed to maintaining the integrity, security, and transparency of the JEE (Advanced) and JoSAA counselling processes. Deliberate attempts to misrepresent this technical event and undermine public trust in the examination system are deeply concerning and should be discouraged.

The JEE (Advanced) team looks forward to supporting every aspirant through a smooth and secure admission process into IITs and IISc.

@IITKgp Contributes to South Asia's Vision for Responsible AI in Higher Education

As South Asia continues to emerge as one of the world's most dynamic higher education regions, with over 50,000 institutions and more than 42 million students, leading academic administrators, policymakers, industry experts, and international organisations gathered at a UNESCO-led Leadership Policy Dialogue to deliberate on the future of AI-enabled higher education and digital transformation across the region.

Representing the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur at this significant international forum, Prof. Suman Chakraborty, Director, IIT Kharagpur, delivered a keynote address highlighting South Asia's unique opportunity to emerge as a global hub for “Meaningful AI” — an approach that places human values, inclusivity, and societal impact at the heart of technological advancement.

In his address, Prof. Chakraborty underscored the importance of supporting modular lifelong learning, advancing multilingual AI ecosystems, and ensuring that artificial intelligence empowers educators rather than replacing them. He further emphasised the need for deeper regional cooperation through shared AI resources, collaborative digital infrastructure, ethical governance frameworks, societal-impact initiatives, and enhanced academic mobility across South Asia. Reflecting on the larger purpose of technological progress, Prof. Chakraborty remarked, “The answer to how humanity will embrace the intelligent age will not emerge from Silicon Valley, but from classrooms, laboratories, rural communities, and the minds of younger generations across South Asia.”

Through its active participation in global policy dialogues and its continued commitment to innovation-driven education, IIT Kharagpur remains at the forefront of shaping responsible, inclusive, and transformative approaches to artificial intelligence in higher education.

हिंदी पत्रकारिता की गौरवगाथा!

हिंदी पत्रकारिता द्विशताब्दी वर्ष के अवसर पर मुंबई हिंदी पत्रकार संघ द्वारा आयोजित 'हिंदी सेवा सम्मान - 2026' कार्यक्रम में उपस्थितजनों को संबोधित किया।

हिंदी पत्रकारिता का इतिहास अत्यंत समृद्ध रहा है और देश के स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में जनजागरण का कार्य करने में इसकी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका रही है। देश का पहला हिंदी समाचार पत्र ‘उदंत मार्तंड’ से प्रारंभ हुई हिंदी पत्रकारिता ने सदैव देश के जनसंवाद को दिशा देने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई है।

ज्ञान, परंपरा और संस्कृति के सूत्रों से महाराष्ट्र और उत्तर प्रदेश का संबंध सदियों से मजबूत रहा है। हिंदी और मराठी दोनों भाषाएं संस्कृत परंपरा से विकसित हुई हैं और देवनागरी लिपि उन्हें सांस्कृतिक रूप से जोड़ती है। अनेक विकसित देशों में शिक्षा का माध्यम उनकी मातृभाषा होती है, जबकि अनेक विकासशील देशों में आज भी शिक्षा उस भाषा में दी जाती है, जिसे कभी उन पर शासन करने वालों ने स्थापित किया था। लेकिन मा. प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी जी इनके नेतृत्व में केंद्र सरकार ने मातृभाषा में शिक्षा को प्राथमिकता देकर भारतीय भाषाओं के सम्मान, संरक्षण और संवर्धन को नई दिशा देने का कार्य किया है।

आज इस कार्यक्रम में सम्मानित सभी पुरस्कारार्थियों को हार्दिक बधाई देता हूँ। इन पुरस्कारों से सम्मानित व्यक्तित्व युवा पत्रकारों के लिए प्रेरणास्रोत बनेंगे। इस उत्कृष्ट आयोजन के लिए मुंबई हिंदी पत्रकार संघ एवं सभी संबंधितों का हृदय से आभार व्यक्त करता हूँ।

मेरे ७२ वर्ष के जीवन में १९७५ से आज तक प्रचारक के नाते ही कार्य कर रहा हूँ। मैं अपनी कमियों के विषय में भी जानता हूँ, परंतु आप सभी ने जो स्नेह, आत्मीयता और विश्वास प्रदान किया है, उसका विस्मरण कभी नहीं होगा। यही कारण है कि मैं निरंतर इतने वर्षों तक कार्य कर रहा हूँ, आशा है भविष्य में भी आप सभी का सहयोग एवं मार्गदर्शन इसी प्रकार प्राप्त होता रहेगा और मुझे एक purposeful life जीने के लिए सतत प्रेरणा मिलती रहेगी।

▪️NTA has issued new date for NEET-UG Exam. The re-exam will be held on June 21. The exam took place on 3rd May and on 7th May, NTA received a complaint that the guess paper had some questions that were present in the Question sheets this time.

▪️The Higher Education Department initiated an immediate inquiry and the matter was then handed over to the concerned agencies of the Government of India. They contacted the state agencies and by May 12th, we were confirmed that under the guise of a guess paper, the actual examination questions had indeed been leaked.

▪️We did not want any deserving student to be deprived of their rights because of the conspiracy of education mafias or because an undeserving candidate benefited through unfair means.

▪️After the irregularities that surfaced last time, the Radhakrishnan Committee had been constituted, and we implemented its recommendations. Despite that, this incident occurred. Hence, our first decision was to cancel the examination.

Launched India’s first Integrated Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) Field Laboratory Facility at IIT Bombay. This marks an important milestone in advancing India’s clean energy innovation ecosystem.

My best wishes to UrjanovaC, incubated at SINE, IIT Bombay, for translating advanced research into scalable national capability. It reflects India’s growing strength in emerging tech, driven by innovation, scale and long-term vision.

India’s Panchamrit commitments announced by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi and the national goal of Net Zero by 2070 define a clear pathway towards sustainable and responsible growth. CCUS will play a critical role in this transition, powered by indigenous science and technological capability.

This achievement reflects the larger direction envisioned in NEP 2020, creating institutions that not only generate knowledge, but also build national capability through innovation, enterprise and research-led solutions. India possesses the talent, scale and scientific potential to emerge as a global leader in sustainable technologies. The need of the hour is stronger collaboration between academia, industry, policymakers and society to convert this potential into transformative national outcomes for Viksit Bharat 2047. Hon’ble Union Minister of Education, Shri @dpradhanbjp, launched the School Management Committee (SMC) Guidelines 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Addressing the gathering, he highlighted that the Guidelines will play a pivotal role in translating the vision of #NEP2020 into action across the country’s schools, while strengthening community participation and shared responsibility in education. He called for SMCs to evolve into a people’s movement for improving educational outcomes.

The event was attended by Shri Ashish Sood, Education Minister, Government of NCT of Delhi; Shri Gajender Yadav, Minister of School Education, Government of Chhattisgarh.

Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy; Shri Ashok Kumar Meena, Secretary, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation; Smt. Archana S.
