The just energy transition will be a major topic at this year’s Mining Indaba and for good reason. The extraction of critical minerals for clean energy technologies should benefit mining host communities and the nations at large! ZAMI ⛏️🇿🇼⚒️ @ZELA_Infor
Through the #YICA campaign young people from #Mozambique#Zambia#Zimbabwe are taking action and are determined to see the great mineral wealth catapult their countries’ development.
The call is for a responsible extractive sector that places human rights and the best interests of #communities at its core and that creates long-term social, environmental, economic, and sustainable value.
#CorporateAccountability
#ResponsibleInv
Youths from #Hwange detail several challenges in pushing for responsible mining practices, including limited authority, limited financial resources and political interference among a plethora of structural bottlenecks that inhibit their effectiveness as advocates for good environmental practices.
The youths, also known @ZELA_Infor as Youth Initiative for Corporate Accountability (YICA) ambassadors, are knowledgeable and have an interest in human rights issues, business ethics, and corporate accountability.
Thus, today, we have convened youth representatives from diverse backgrounds to share their perspectives on the activities of TNCs and their impact on human rights.
The goal is sustainable #ResponsibleInv and #CorporateAccountability.

The @UN Working group on business & human rights is calling for input for their report on extractives, just transition & human rights. The call can be found here https://t.co/KkRfYCHo3w.
@ZELA_Infor is working on a substantial response based on our work⏩ https://t.co/PMLuPRAeU7
/Some of the questions we are responding to are include;
- How can States better advance human rights-compatible energy transition laws & policies that ensure #responsible#business conduct in all aspects of #energytransition efforts & programs?
/What measures & mechanisms should be provided by #extractive sector legislation, bilateral investment treaties, concessions,& contracts to allow individuals or #communities affected by extractive activities to seek effective remedy for business-related human rights abuses?
This year’s 🌍 Day Theme is “Invest in Climate”
During the 1972 Stockholm Conference, it was observed that man is the epicenter of the environment. It is therefore up to man to actively invest and promote climate friendly initiatives. Save our 🌍.
Corporate capture is an emerging trend & its a threat. How do we ensure the wellbeing of humanity is prioritized including ensuring that the @ungps10plus principles are upheld?
@josychiname
We need socially responsible corporates & this is the #YICA message.
Today @ZELA_Infor has the pleasure of bringing together members of the @ZELA_Infor Youth Network, @EnvironmentAfr Youth Network & @kuwukajda Youth Network to reflect on the Youth Initiative for Corporate Accountability #YICA,a regional campaign being led by the #youth themselves
We applaud @ZELAInfor for bringing together youth networks to reflect on the Youth Initiative for Corporate Accountability #YICA. This regional campaign spearheaded by young leaders exemplifies how youth leadership can inspire progress.
#YICA The youth have a special responsibility in holding corporations accountable for any infringement of human rights whilst the corporation conducts its business activities. Pleasure to be here sharing ideas with youths from different countries in the region. @ZELA_Infor
