@imjustapie2@JoeyCarrionDFS@MySportsUpdate It’s just statistically the wrong choice. The probability of a missed kick is virtually identical either way, the only difference is the probability of losing IF the kicker misses.
@MarkFre01506181@ItzDustt@TJStats Yes, I’d say a full season of offensive stats is more important than a smaller sample. If we want to talk about minimizing, how do you square the fact that Stewart is pretty much a DH and Benge is an elite defender?
@ItzDustt@TJStats Just think voting should try to reward the best player who had the best season. Benge has had an equal or better offensive season by OPS+, and he is obviously well clear defensively and in terms of baserunning.
@ItzDustt@TJStats You shouldn’t win ROY for an impressive milestone imo, especially when there are draft pick implications. Benge has easily been the superior player this season.
@ewingbenge@FinkelsteinRyan That is not how run value works in the slightest. Every time a player in the outfield catches a fly ball with the bases loaded, they don’t provide 3 runs of value. You don’t get to “incorporate 50 runs” because of RBIs lol
@ewingbenge@FinkelsteinRyan You can consider leverage, but is it more important than Benge being better in every facet of the game? Or does a small sample leverage gap outweigh a full season of defense and base running (not to mention non high leverage hitting?)
@ewingbenge@FinkelsteinRyan All leverage situations matter the same because the hitter doesn’t control what leverage he gets to hit in. The only thing he can control is what he does in his AB! That’s why the entire season sample size of ABs is more indicative of the better hitter than a smaller sample size.
@ewingbenge@FinkelsteinRyan Because they’re random, small sample sizes. The fact that they fluctuate so much year to year means performance in those situations isn’t due to anything the player is doing, but instead is just statistical noise. Benge clears in every aspect actually controlled by the player.
@MarkMcICane@SoLaidBack_ Is it possible they’re talking about football IQ when they’re talking about an NFL quarterback? I don’t think Terrence Tao’s IQ is gonna make him an elite processor on an NFL field
@ExitTheLeft@SNY_Mets Go look at his other starts and you’ll see he’s been pulled at around 80 pitches in all but 1. He’s already pitched the most innings this year in his entire career - but yeah let’s push him in a meaningless game down 2.
@ExitTheLeft@SNY_Mets So just because he can, he should? A pitch limit is just intelligent personnel management. Again, why risk anything in a season where you are 53-68 and 11 games back of a wild card?
