So the administrators appointed by the ANC Gauteng government to run the @CityTshwane have admitted to the CoGTA portfolio committee that they’ve published an UNFUNDED budget. Rank incompetence, especially given that this budget was published on 19 May - way post-lockdown.
We will fight at the ballot box but also in court, if necessary. It’s about saving #Tshwane from the looters who were voted out in 2016. But it’s also about preventing ANC functionaries from grabbing power through the back door in other places. #TshwaneDissolution
We have approached the North Gauteng High Court to halt the unlawful actions by opposition parties to deactivate the DA-led #TshwaneCouncil over the past few months.
We are confident our case is strong. We will fight to protect the will of the people. 🇿🇦https://t.co/tEliRy3yW7
@David_Makhura
Can you also please tell the Public that the Speaker of Council only received the letter yesterday about dissolving Tshwane. Please can we get evidence of when you sent it to the NCOP or did you back date a letter

Tshwane council Speaker Katlego Mathebe has been used by both the ANC and EFF as a "convenient excuse" to collapse council meetings, said the DA interim leader John Steenhuisen. https://t.co/SjQGfeOdJw #TshwaneCouncil@CityTshwane#Tshwane
I remember when #DA arrived in #Tshwane + found a City in a mess. Billions in the red. Within 2 years #DA put billions in the bank, got rid of #anc corruption + miss-management. Now the #anc + #eff want it back to steal billions again? Never! #TshwaneCouncil@jsteenhuisen
Today, @jsteenhuisen will lead a delegation to meet the DA’s Tshwane caucus following the recent developments in the City.
Following this, we will hold a briefing on the meeting's outcomes & our long-lasting plans to usher in a way forward to keep making progress in Tshwane.
Welcomed the opportunity to set the record straight on Tshwane's financial progress and who is responsible for the bulk of the accumulated irregular expenditure disclosed by the AG in the 2017/18 consolidated report.
The City of Tshwane welcomes the long-awaited Cost Containment Regulations promulgated in terms of the MFMA. Some of the proposals contained in the draft regulations issued for public comment in 2018 were already incorporated in the 2018/19 Budget as well as in other policies.
Well done Executive Mayor! The pro-poor 2019/20 budget is approved with 156 votes. We look forward to service the people of Tshwane in a sustainable manner.
Cllr Mare-Lise Fourie: MMC for Finance during #PostBudgetSession: Budget is not a wishlist but a financial plan meant to be implemented. This is drafted based on assumptions that are realistic and have been tested through public consultations. #TshwaneBudget2019
