McGill law professors begin unlimited strike as classes resume. This is a fight for the recognition of unions in Canadian #highereducation. @McGillU is trying to kill unions. We won't let them.

There will be a memorial gathering for Mohabat tomorrow morning at 10am, here is the screenshot from the facebook page of the Guysborough Nature Trail Parkrun. And I just learned that Mohabat means kindness ❤️
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mohabat Tarkeshian earlier this week. @mohabattt completed her PhD in Math last year and has since been an assistant professor at @stfxuniversity
She touched the lives of many with her warm heart, energetic spirit, and dedication. 👇

@WesternU Wait a minute—@PSAC610 said they didn’t end negotiations—only asked for a break to rest. Why didn’t @WesternU go back to the table the next day? Don’t they care about the undergrad exams that need to be graded? Who is going to mark those? @uwofa1 said not faculty.
Fed up with the rich getting richer, while the rest of us struggle to get by? We are, too. And we’re done waiting.
We’re taking action in communities across Ontario.
Because enough is enough.

@WesternU They wisely rejected it. Western controls the company store—whatever wage they pay they take back with inflated prices on tuition—while also decreasing the non-unionized payments on our research work. So much for “full funding”, whatever that means @WesternU.
@retired38001 @WesternU You’re completely out of touch with reality. Get an education for yourself in these times, then see what these young people are facing.
Can they even be a familiar face in the room who has reminded them many times before that they can do this? Math anxiety is real, and a big part of my job is helping our undergrads deal with that.
Research shows that PhD students initially aspire to be professors, but that the desire wanes over time. Some think this is because of disillusionment with academia, while others attribute it to the challenging (impossible!) job market. What do you think?
And don’t forget all our coworkers from other bargaining units @WesternU ! I will picket with them, in person or virtually if I leave London, when they have to bargain. I will always stand with @psac610, @uwofa1, @CUPE2361 and all sister unions helping us.
I don’t think @WesternU recognizes the power they are giving us by allowing us to continue collective action. I have not only bonded with members of my department more this week than ever before, but I have met so many grad students across campus @PSAC610
Undergrads I talk to have said they feel so disrespected by Western University-that UWO should have seen this coming and still didn’t care enough to protect their client relationships with undergrads by offering a reasonable deal to TAs.
I am asking this question at Senate this afternoon: "As a two-term Senator, and Acting Director of the School of Health Studies, I have a question related to the effects of the Graduate Teaching Assistant's strike on undergraduates.
