Given the toxic environment @elonmusk is personally creating here I will no longer be posting on Twitter other than to advocate for the advancement of the open social web. Follow me there via Mastodon or Bluesky.

“This is the hardest time I’ve ever had covering a crisis on here. Credible links are now photos. On the ground news outlets struggle to reach audiences without an expensive blue check mark. Xenophobic goons are boosted by the platform’s CEO."

At an important time like this, having links just post as pictures makes twitter unusable -- at a practical, fundamental level -- as a place to share checkable information.
the level of disinformation on israel-hamas war being algorithmically promoted on twitter is unlike anything i’ve ever been exposed to in my career as a political scientist.
Check out our new AI powered Flipboard Tech feed for Bluesky and let me know what you think. It ingests the Bluesky firehose and then selects posts relevant to tech using a longformer model we train monthly with ~10M documents.

@joshelman In addition to ActivityPub and AT, the APIs for Mastodon and Bluesky are world class and will never be shutoff. Precious window of opportunity for developers right now. Any new service waiting till we reach a couple hundred million users on the social web will arrive too late.
@joshelman There are currently ~1M highly engaged users who are thirsting for new services on the social web. Will grow rapidly as 1) Bluesky opens invites 2) Instagram ships "Threads" on ActivityPub and 3) other third party services like Wordpress, Flipboard, Medium, etc support AP.
Today we announced the addition of PixelFed and Bluesky to our social web integrations on Flipboard.
Now you can see posts from Mastodon, PixelFed, Bluesky and, of course, Flipboard all in the same user experience.
By the way, I'm collecting photography stories in my @FlakPhoto Reads magazine. If you're on @Flipboard and you dig pictures, please check it out: https://t.co/0QhKJgIZ9Y
@GSTimalee I haven't tried it yet, partly because it's another proprietary twitter clone run by one person/company. I think the future of social media is open and so far Mastodon and Bluesky have done the most to advance this.
Appalling but not surprising. Another reason to switch to either @mastodon or @bluesky on the social web where moderation is taken seriously and innovation is happening.

Apparently Twitter no longer renders shared links to @substack articles. So here's a screen shot and a link to the article I was referring to.

You asked for it, and it’s coming. Quote posts, search, and groups are on their way and a new onboarding experience is launching today. Read more here:

Wow. Calling @artifact a competitor to @twitter is clutching at straws. That is a terribly executed mess of an app. I can think of it as the 10 print of a hand stenciled copy machine of something that already exists and is very good. Maybe @vox should check out @Flipboard 😂 https://t.co/C75NCNnsoo
