Happy World Teachers’ Day 2026! 📚
Teaching does not happen in isolation. The systems, partnerships & support structures around teachers matter.
As co-lead of Leaders in Teaching Uganda, LGF works with stakeholders across the education ecosystem to support better teaching. 1/2
To every teacher shaping minds, building character and nurturing possibility: your impact goes far beyond the classroom.
Thank you for helping learners discover who they are and what they can become.

Honoured to join @uniteuganda24 International Teacher Education Conference-ITEC held in Kampala on 1-2 Oct 2026. Our ED @MNakabug joined @Educ_SportsUg officials & @MaKCEES colleagues on a panel responding to a keynote address delivered by @NPA_UG ED @JosephMuvawala on aligning Teacher Education Reform with Uganda's National Development Plan IV and Vision 2040. Our message: Reforms in Teacher Education should be matched with reforms in learning. As our ED observed: ‘’If, five years from now, we have more trained teachers, more CPD hours and a fully established UNITE, but children still cannot read or lack key life skills and values, we will have reformed the teaching profession without reforming learning…’
On this #WorldTeachersDay, @UwezoUganda celebrates teachers who turn each school day into opportunities for children to understand, question and grow.
We recognise the support and conditions teachers need to help every child learn and thrive.
#HappyTeachersDay to all
teachers and educators shaping learning every day.
🍎 WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY 2026
Today, we celebrate the teachers whose work creates value that lasts far beyond the classroom.
Every lesson taught, every learner encouraged and every life shaped contributes to stronger communities and a stronger nation. Behind every profession and every generation that moves Uganda forward is a teacher who helped make that journey possible.
As we mark World Teachers’ Day 2026 under the theme “Celebrating Teachers – Creating Lasting Value,” UNATU celebrates every teacher for their dedication, resilience and invaluable contribution to education and national development.
Today, we renew our call to:
Listen to teachers. Respect teachers. Support teachers. Invest in teachers.
To every teacher across Uganda: we see you, we hear you, and we value you.
Happy World Teachers’ Day 2026! 🇺🇬
Because We Are, The Nation Is.

Those charlatans who are branding @Pontifex as a racist based on a five second edited video of him shaking hands and missing out on the black priest, are just redundant and naive. Look at how many blacks he greeted in France. That nonsense won’t fly.
Him: Mr Kuteesa how do I improve my financial situation?
Me: Start by valuing small money. Do a business that allows you to make small money and learn the discipline of gathering it.
What Makes a Great Teacher?

Great teaching is not only about completing the syllabus. It is about inspiring students, building confidence, understanding learners and making learning meaningful.
What Students Really Want
They may never say it directly.
But their silence, questions, mistakes, smiles, participation—and even their behaviour in the classroom—are constantly telling you something.
We are pleased to share that preparations are underway for the Uwezo Supplementary School-Based Assessment for Children with Disabilities (CWD).
We are currently conducting a pilot phase to refine our approach for this foundational learning assessment, which covers numeracy, reading, and problem-solving. The main assessment is scheduled for the week of 19th–23rd October 2026 across the districts of Yumbe, Ntungamo, Mukono, and Luuka.
This assessment will target children with disabilities attending special primary schools, specialised units within regular primary schools, and designated inclusive primary schools.#LearningOutcomes #Lifeskills @palnetworkHQ@UwezoTanzania@UsawaAgenda@alive_programme@ReliAfrica@MNakabug
During this most sad moment in Uganda (following the recent deaths of icons), the news of the She Cranes victory at the Netball Africa Cup in Nairobi, beating South Africa 56 - 53, is such a BIG consolation!!!!!!
Congratulations our girls....you always find that special moment to make Uganda smile 😃 👋🏾👌🏾👏🏾💪🏾!!!!!!CPM.
We are heartened by these OECD findings, which reveal how extra-curricular activities are connected to higher outcomes of #SES among 10-and 15-year-olds. This casts fresh light on the importance we must attach to co-curricular activities-especially in Sub-Saharan contexts, where their promise is both urgent and profound.

Today, we wrap up an intensive 5-day Africa Centre for Social Emotional Learning (AxSEL) Foundations Course in Kampala! Covering four modules, this has anchored participants to frame Social Emotional Learning as part of everyday teaching, assessment and institutional practice as they set on their journey of becoming AxSEL Certified SEL Practitioners (ACSP).
Together, we are contributing to building a shared understanding of Social Emotional Learning (SEL), strengthening pedagogical practices, and preparing to integrate these vital skills into the regional education contexts. #AxSEL #SEL #EducationTransformation
In our recent #LifeSkills poll, creative thinking came out on top with 33.9% of responses, ahead of problem-solving (32.3%), self-awareness (24.2%), and collaboration (9.7%).
Encouragingly, parents do not need special materials to nurture creative thinking. Everyday stories, chores, discarded boxes, bottle tops, and simple household problems can all give children the space to imagine, experiment, and discover different ways of doing things.
We thank you for this feedback.

Our #children need support in #Homework, supervised to #rest early to be fresh for tomorrow's #learning. Such modest and low-cost steps are powerful in preparing future ready generations.
As children return to school this week, @UwezoUganda wishes every learner a good start, supportive teachers and school environment where they can learn, enjoy being in class and succeed in life.

@UwezoUganda would like to thank you for being part of our growing community.
We look forward to continued conversations around evidence on #FoundationalLearning, #LifeSkillsAndValues, and advancing access and equity in learning for all #children in Uganda and East Africa.

As @UNESCO convenes the #DigitalLearningWeek2026, the global conversation on digital learning must include Uganda’s reality. Uwezo’s assessment evidence shows that only 23% of primary schools had internet access, with rural schools likely even more disadvantaged.
Please share what you are doing to advance equitable digital access and learning?
