The United Arab Emirates is funding murder, starvation, and destruction of Sudan by financially backing the Rapid Support Forces against civilians.

The U.A.E. is to Sudan as Israel is to Gaza.

Videos are circulating of Sudanese men and women hung by their arms angled backwards.

This is a form of torture designed to tear the shoulder ligaments slowly and painfully.

Just because they don’t have as many journalists or media attention doesn’t make them less worthy of our compassion and attention.

That is an undeniable fact: our nation shows signs of internal decay when public trust in government institutions erodes. Many nations work to protect their citizens from suffering and displacement, yet our own government agencies have too often prioritized security experiments and surveillance capabilities over the rights and safety of ordinary Americans.

As a U.S. military veteran who has served this country honorably, I am deeply concerned about the growing use of drones and directed-energy systems in or near residential areas without transparency, accountability, or civilian oversight. These technologies, regardless of who operates them, should never be used in ways that compromise the health, privacy, or property of U.S. citizens.

Current law — 10 U.S.C. § 130i — authorizes the Department of Defense to “take reasonable force, including to disable or destroy an unmanned aircraft system” that threatens designated facilities or assets. Yet this statute, combined with 18 U.S.C. § 32 (which prohibits civilians from damaging or interfering with aircraft), effectively leaves citizens with no lawful means to defend their homes or families from unauthorized drone activity. This imbalance in authority deserves immediate legislative review.

During the Obama administration, drone engagement policies were narrowed to prevent the destruction of unmanned aerial systems, ostensibly to avoid diplomatic and collateral risks. However, such restrictions also created an environment where unauthorized or covert operations could occur without meaningful challenge or public recourse.

It is therefore imperative that Congress and independent inspectors general review these policies and ensure that no agency—federal, state, or private contractor—is operating unmanned systems in a manner that endangers or surveils civilians.
