If you’re involved in any kind of ministry to children, please prioritize the Word. Sometimes, effectiveness in children’s ministry is measured by how fun it was. But kids who are taught to place fun above all will grow into adults who place entertainment above all.
“It's okay for somebody who's a Marxist to bring what they've learned from Das Kapital into the room, but not to take what you believe from the Bible. That's nonsense, isn't it?”
@TimFarron tells #TimesRadio that being religious can be a bar to serving in high public office.
If there's one thing I've learnt in 2021, it would be that everyday, regardless of the date, is another opportunity to do better, be better, show kindness, be grateful and look forward.
Often what we criticize others for, or complain about the most, are things we need to work on in ourselves. Complaining & criticizing are compasses.
I pray you experience more of the love of God. We love because He first loved us, meaning we are and we can because He is. As Paul prayed, may you truly know the height, width and depth of God’s love for you and be filled with His fullness.
Ephesians 3:18, 1 John 4:18-21 🤍
When you know you’re loved regardless, it forms a safety net for you to do hard things, it’s an enabler to perform to a high standard with authenticity.
The Bible juxtaposes fear and love. It tells us that perfect love drives out all fear. Being perfected in love means there is room to make mistakes, grow and adjust without it affecting your value and inherent worth. That’s the best driver there is.
Fear of sexual sin may have you avoiding all sexual contact, but at what point do you learn self-control, healthy boundaries and ways to express care and affection in a measured way?
Fear of failing at university may make you stay up and study, pull the all-nighters and cram the information. But how much anxiety can your body handle? And for how long?
In every day living, fear is such a poor motivator. It might get you started but over time it brings with it shame, anxiety and guilt. We need more helpful motivators. That way we aren’t simply running away from something, but we are running towards something.
On fear…
We weren’t created to be motivated by fear. Not consistently. Just momentarily, in cases of survival where there’s a threat trigger, leading to a fight or flight response.
@timkellernyc "If you believe what you like in the gospels, and reject what you don't like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself." -St. Augustine
There are some wins that only you and God understand the magnitude of. In those moments, remember that an achievement doesn’t need to be noticed, acknowledged or celebrated by others to be valid and deeply significant.
God is the author of the Truth that empowers us. Satan is the author of the deception that imprisons us.
That’s why the enemy is thrilled when we don’t open our Bibles. Truth sheds light on darkness & helps us see clearly what a horrible trap Satan's luring us into.
For many of us, it's not the expectations of others that break us, but our internal need to meet or exceed these expectations - spoken and unspoken for the sake of affirmation, recognition or anything else we individually desire.
I've been gone for a minute... but seeing as my sisters have decided to summon me... I guess I'll be popping up on here a bit more :) @IfyAlexis@glorzm@Bidemsss ❤
