@heyjudka The dearth of high volume target markets is surprising when you look at it clearly, right? Without 10 or even 100 go-to answers the bio-based economy (beyond pharma) might grow slower than many anticipate. The tech is mostly there, but new market development is a high hurdle.

Vanilla really gets a bum rap IMO. You’re derived from an orchid in Madagascar/Tahiti/Mexico etc. Literally everyone loves you as a flavor. You go great with absolutely any desert… and somehow you have become a euphemism for boring.

@dplattsf Ab’s are the great go-to answer, but only a very small volume market where the high ASP means manufacturing costs impact economics a lot less. But I’m more surprised by the dearth of high volume target markets where these metrics would matter more.

@CytochromeP Definitely true, and if you find a pharmaceutical application for any of the other myriad cannabinoids beyond CBD and THC then much better margins, but for where it's at today, it's a race to the bottom in a small mkt for the synbio players.
