I write about fandom dynamics, the (d)evolution of fandom culture and the grooming of fandom from industry over the years. Fandom native & reformed stan.
@BovyMaltz@Pipolinna I must admit I don't get why she wouldn't even read it? Like, if you're covering a topic or plan on writing about it and the book you requested is right there.... why would you not at the very least skim it to see if something can be referenced?
It’s a very logical offer for fans. Spotify knows which listeners love an act — and can guarantee some tickets.
But it also could piss off a lot of people who don’t make the cut. Spotify will soon learn the joys of being Ticketmaster!
at this point the discourse is being driven by people who have never been to a singular concert in their lives bc even at shows where phones are allowed if someone faints you just alert the security you don’t…call someone? who tf would you call?!?!
@Zachiswack2000 They had to carry out multiple mid-40s dads from Los Feliz who passed out when they played “Champagne From a Paper Cup,” if only people had their phones, medical assistance may have gotten to them in time to be saved
Very happy to announce I’ve been this friend for many of my thinner friends once upon a time and every single one of them asked me to do it because the dudes were fucking creeps
NEW: The City of Toronto says only a fraction of the 2026 FIFA World Cup tickets it bought as an investment remain unsold, with the soccer gamble looking set to pay off a week before the games begin. #ToPoli

I should definitely mind my own business but this kind of lite plagiarism is so common & so shitty and the people who engage always act so slick. Everyone knows when it happens and so few people have the balls to call it out. It’s easily remedied by the smallest gestures — a link, a hat tip, a thank you.
I know we’re all fighting for shrinking attention spans, freelance opportunities, and real estate but as someone who’s been the victim of this many times, it’s extremely demoralizing. It’s not just about losing credit, either. Of course there’s the obvious issue of who gets called when to defend or represent an idea but it’s social, too. It makes you feel iced out of your professional community and certainly less respected.
