@mrpapageorg1o@Jake_B30 Then get the fuck out and root for the Cowboys or Jaguars. Doesn’t change the fact that NWI is a shitty location for actually generating year-round revenue. Why not look up actual population and income stats before your butthurt ass keeps thinking the sewage swamp is paradise
@mrpapageorg1o@Jake_B30 If you think businesses are running so well with your tax planning please list out all the companies leaving Chicago for northwest Indiana.
@mrpapageorg1o@Jake_B30 Again- the area around AH has greater than 2x the population and has double the average income. You aren’t making $300 in Hammond and the C-corp tax rate in Illinois is 9.5%. Try working with real numbers and not feelings.
@mrpapageorg1o@Jake_B30 Would you rather make $100 with 5% in taxes or $400 with 10% in taxes? AH has 4x the revenue potential of Hammond. Likely greater since Hammond would only generate revenue on event days while AH could be year-round.
@BearsOfTheNorth@Kirsten_Tanis1 Please tell me all of the businesses that left for Indiana from Chicago. Things like taxes are part of the game when you are targeting a significantly higher population with significantly higher net worth. Yes you pay more but your revenue potential is multiples higher.
@DaWheels_1@fletcher33333@thescorechicago Would you rather sell to 5 people with $10 in their pocket or 50 people with $20 in their pocket in a business that is driven off of disposable income?
@chefoxpress@thescorechicago All that matters is how they increase the event take beyond gameday. Jerry doesn’t own AT&T stadium either but gets almost all the revenue from events.
@Mykl0@ErikLambert1 If this was just a stadium deal they’d take the “free” IN stadium. The whole goal is not a stadium alone, but a full entertainment district that gives the McCaskeys a revenue stream beyond the team. That has been their Achilles heel and why they bought AH to begin with.
@Mykl0@ErikLambert1 You keep focusing on event revenue. I’m talking about restaurants, entertainment, conferences. You are not going to have people from say Northbrook leave, drive past Chicago, to have dinner on a Tuesday night in Hammond. Companies won’t have conferences 40 miles from O’Hare.
@Mykl0@ErikLambert1 Yeah let’s try to extract revenue from a population of 600K with half the median income in IN to a population for 6M plus in AH. Makes good business sense.
@Mykl0@ErikLambert1 Nobody is spending the night in Hammond. They aren’t doing it now. Outside of events, there is no value in going there if you are in the city or burbs, which caps the revenue opportunities the McCaskeys are looking for.
@YoAmoTetas@midgroyper@StockChartsUP And you are ignoring my point that a handful of concerts a year is not year-round economic viability that the McCaskeys are seeking. The point is bigger than a stadium.
@midgroyper@StockChartsUP Casino resorts that are already failing. Again, the point of the project is to make revenue streams that are not tied to event ticketing. Hammond NOW shows that people in Chicagoland don’t care to drive that far already. The area won’t solve for revenue on a Wednesday night.
@midgroyper@StockChartsUP Only through the lens of event tickets. When it comes to conferences, dining, corporate events, etc… nobody is going to Hammond. It’s not for lack of space, it’s because you have much better options in Chicago or Indianapolis that are proximal to airports.
@midgroyper@StockChartsUP Nobody from that area is going to go past Chicago into Indiana for a night out. The Bears are looking to make money beyond just events. Their target market isn’t going to drive further east of Chicago for an average night out. Especially with legalized sports betting now in IL.
@midgroyper@StockChartsUP You’re right! Except that the population of Porter and Lake County in IN combine to about 600K people. Hammond median income is half of Arlington Heights. It may be “close” to Chicago but the surrounding Northwest and West Suburbs account for about 6 million people.
