“Torino has an incredible lettering and typography culture that’s often overlooked, but truly distinctive. Walking through Torino’s streets is like exploring an open-air museum of beautiful hand-painted signs and elegant lettering… Walking under the portici, you’re surrounded by layers of typographic history, with some signs dating back a century or more.”

“Fonts are more than words. They tell a story, help sell a point, or evoke memories and feelings ... It’s a visual cue, almost instant, no matter what the words themselves say.”
As Digital Operations Manager at Monotype, Jake Murtaugh’s work sits at the intersection of design, technology, and storytelling. He’s not a developer, but he dabbles in code. He’s not a designer, but he helps shape the way Monotype’s fonts are seen and experienced online. And his appreciation of visual creativity extends to his hobbies, too, with a passion for film photography (and a robust camera collection).
