Proud Moment
In 1996 the House Science Committee, which I chaired at the time, authorized the building of the Next Generation Space Telescope, later named the James Webb telescope. (1/3)
🌟 A star is born!
Behind the curtain of dust and gas in these “Cosmic Cliffs” are previously hidden baby stars, now uncovered by Webb. We know — this is a show-stopper. Just take a second to admire the Carina Nebula in all its glory: https://t.co/tlougFWg8B #UnfoldTheUniverse
This week the public got its first look at pictures from the Webb looking back into the history of the universe for billions of years. It is a magnificent achievement for science and technology, for American ingenuity and for the advancement of the human spirit. (2/3)
✋🏼 Galactic high five!
In Webb’s image of Stephan’s Quintet, we see 5 galaxies, 4 of which interact. (The left galaxy is in the foreground!) Webb will revolutionize our knowledge of star formation & gas interactions in these galaxies: https://t.co/tlougFWg8B #UnfoldTheUniverse
This 1st image from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope is the deepest and sharpest infrared image of the distant universe to date. Known as Webb’s First Deep Field, this image of galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 is overflowing with detail. This is why deep space exploration is important!
World’s first in-space demonstration of two-way holoportation performed by Mark Pathy on the @Space_Station! Awesomeness!! Great work @Axiom_Space@ISS_Research 🚀🚀
Today we celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the on-orbit deployment of the Hubble Space Telescope. In honor of this date, LSI is debuting our video, Go Incredibly Fast. https://t.co/e1c3zynMvq
The teams at @Axiom_Space, @NASA, & @SpaceX plan for the #Ax1 crew to undock the @Space_Station on Saturday, 4/23 at 8:35 pm ET and are targeting splashdown on Sunday, 4/24 at 1:46 p.m. ET. https://t.co/zpHdXJxCuh
Due to unfavorable weather conditions, we are waving off tonight's undocking of the #Ax1 mission from @Space_Station. The integrated Axiom Space, @NASA and @SpaceX teams are assessing the next best opportunity for the return of Ax-1, the first all-private mission to the ISS.
