Libraries are good and Nazis are bad and maybe if more people fully embraced the first assertion we wouldn't be having so much trouble regaining consensus on the second one.
Now I get it!
“The kicker: the same people killing the monitors want to mine the deep sea for minerals. So they are destroying the only tools that could measure what that mining does. That is not an accident.
That is the point. You cannot see the damage if you break the instruments first.”
I don't think MAGA people get how hated MAGA is in big cities. Their entire political movement is now framed as the desire to destroy blue cities and they think we haven't noticed.
Judy gave up her own home to be able to keep this theater in her family and running. You can get another place to live but you can’t get another theater, she said. The margins are razor thin to keep it alive, and a plumbing crisis like this is catastrophic. PLEASE DONATE OR SHARE
There’s really no need to act like there’s not an obvious middle ground: pay people the normal rates to do the work upfront, but establish terms that allow them to get paid on the backend *IF* the film becomes a huge profitable success.
People telling the art director from Obsession “too bad, that’s what you signed up for” instead of collectively encouraging that once small budget films reach a certain number all cast and crew receive a bonus, is why we’ll never be free.
this Datacenter is only 200 meters from the zoo. These things make constant noise & heat the surrounding areas by up to 16 degrees. The Nashville Zoo is home to over 350 species of Leopards, Tigers, Rhinos, Zebras, Giraffes, Alligators, Monkeys, & more. Please sign the petition
@offbeatorbit I've just gotten to the point where I'm like "IDK, man, it's named for an actual dude, I have a French friend whose last name is Paris and it's pronounced Pah-rees, sometimes the rules aren't the rules."
Worth noting the massive blue shift we are seeing in California is not likely to be replicated this November. This has all been caused by Democrats holding onto their ballots trying to figure out the governor race. 2024 had a very minor blue shift (~1/5-~1/10th of this scale).
In honor of Pride and the NBA Finals, it seems only appropriate to quote Charles Barkley:
If you are gay or transgender, I love you. And if anybody gives you shit, you tell them Charles says “fuck you.”
Huge amount of mail ballots returned on Election Day.
Millions.
Election workers can't tabulate those immediately.
They must first scan the ballot envelope to make sure the voter hasn't already voter in person.
Then they have to assess the signature on the ballot envelope to make sure consistent with the voter's past signatures (to confirm identity).
Then they have to remove ballot from envelope, make sure it's not torn or otherwise damaged, and then flatten it.
Then they can tabulate it.
Then they have to adjudicate any stray pen marks, overvotes, or write-ins.
They they can report results.
And they have to document all of this.
Hope this helps!
Thx!

I think we’re all ignoring the discussion lurking about regarding the fact that if something as simple as the frame of your image has to be *this* malleable, your art is being compromised in the womb.
We are in desperate need of a Schoolhouse Rock vid re: how CA's estimate v count of ballots outstanding works, which I'm *almost* certain is just: ballots = *officially* "to be counted" once the (unopened) envelope's signature is verified but are algorithmically estimated prior.
This is exactly why billionaires can’t exist. This man is burning the entire world down because he cannot accept his daughter for who she is. And he has the money to actually do it. No one can have that power.
