For the record. This was not unanimous. I was muted on the call and not allowed to speak or voice my opposition to this move. Also for the record, this was not on the agenda. This was not consensus. This is censorship.
Some are still doing their best to spread blame to everyone they can for Trump's return—the Democratic Party, Latinos, etc. No, the border issue was a triumph for the GOP because it was able to successfully convince voters of egregious falsehoods through a powerful combination of both an extensive propaganda network and no meaningful supportive policies at the border.
Just one example, the "Migrant crime wave". It never existed, but guess what, a year before the election we were up to 57% of U.S. voters who believed it was totally real.
We didn't have a crime wave. Stats show clearly immigrants commit LESS crime than U.S. folks. What we did have was right-wing media wall-to-wall 24/7 coverage of any crime committed by an undocumented person anywhere.
To now suggest that media, political parties, advocates and everyone else "move back to the center" by moving forward with an acceptance of these false premisses is really totally astounding to me.
There was very little reporting on the fact Gov Abbott bussed migrants at arrival times and to places where they caused high costs and logistical chaos. Organizers are on record saying Abbott's office misrepresented what Texas would be doing with the bus networks that those same organizers had put together and were running smoothly for years before TDEM showed up.
There was very little reporting on the meetings with congress that CBP had in which they desperately asked for critically needed funding that the GOP then blocked. Speaker Johnson went on CNN from Eagle Pass to say, "they don't need the funds".
This is all just the the tip of the iceberg, to say the least. This pattern goes back all the way to the first year of Trump's presidency. The situation at the border has not been helped in any meaningful way by Republicans, and the American people have been misled about the facts.
What has happened around this issue is an attack on our most important democratic institutions, and the media itself has been MIA on it for a long time. And these types of arguments are just the latest chapter in that failure.
We've been in a kind of "Phony War" stage of impending Trump authoritarianism, everyone pretending not much will change, Dems making noises about collaboration, etc.
That needs to end TODAY. With Trump free to seize the FBI, it's real now. Fight or die, Democrats.
Ok, here's something I learned in high school humanities: As long as people believe that they have redress for injustice, either through courts or through political action (like voting), the people will choose nonviolent options.

You deserve some real talk about the South Korean president’s self-coup attempt--it’s part of a larger campaign to use “national security” and the alliance with the US to launder labor repression
Stop doing this Kabuki.
The Supreme Court does not have an “ethics controversy.”
They are not debating about public opinion.
There is a supermajority of corrupt Christian supremacists on SCOTUS who are part of a theocratic organized crime cult.
It must be rebuilt from scratch.
The opinions of Matt Yglesias have been even more irritating than usual lately, so I have written a careful explanation of what makes his work so consistently wrong. His ignorant, callous, smug commentary should be permanently ignored.

Joe Biden had one bad night in a brilliant 50+ year political career. The media buried him.
Trump has had zero good days in 80 years of life, and the media glorifies him.
They don't want Ukraine in NATO because then NATO would be exposed as a fraud in the face of Russian aggression. This is already happening, of course, but current members are devoted to hiding that for as long as possible.
.@NicolleDWallace is doing great work today. She’s giving these nominations the deadly serious treatment they deserve. She continues to be a national treasure and speak truth to power.
There are so few left in the media.
Has the ADL issued a statement on this? Or any of the other establishment/conservative US Jewish community orgs? Or are they too busy policing Rashida Tlaib’s criticisms of Israel?

If Trump cuts aid for Ukraine, it will lead to Ukraine’s defences collapsing, which will set off a refugee crisis in Europe like we’ve never seen before (and that’s before Putin trains he guns on the Baltics). This is all avoidable if we seize the $300B of Russian reserves
One of our biggest mistakes of this decade of war was that we bitterly underestimated the effect of mass TV propaganda of hatred.
It seemed like something straight out of Orwell's book or a relic of the past — that hate-spewing loudspeakers could so profoundly distort the basic moral compass of entire nations and make them sincerely applaud the darkest crimes against humanity.
And yet, here we are — almost 40% of Russians believe that the use of nuclear weapons against Ukraine could be justified. The percentage of Russians who consider this unacceptable is shrinking. And this is against Ukraine, whose 'crime' since 2013 has been simply wanting to be an independent country with its own culture, politics, and path toward the future.
It's a staggering degree of dehumanization and brutalization, fueled by the frenzy of collective hatred on Russian television and Putin's idiotic grimaces as he babbles about how 'we'll go to heaven, and they'll just die.' What can one even say about the state-run Russian Orthodox Church, whose sermons declare the war to eradicate Ukraine as 'sacred' and urge Russians not to fear nuclear Armageddon?
Russia is profoundly sick and corrupted with propaganda-instigated hatred and the cult of perpetual war.
He means the propaganda which American extremist intermediaries/proxies/narrative mules such as @nickjfuentes@timcast@cobratate pump into the impressionable minds of young men and boys while claiming it to be their own individual ‘free speech’ 🤡
Meanwhile, they are nothing but whores for Putin.
