Every Life, A Universe: An Offering to Our Jewish Community
On Oct 7, amidst the Days of Awe, Jews across the U.S. will come together in community & in grief. Our tears are abundant enough, & our hearts are big enough, to grieve for every life taken– every universe destroyed– whether Palestinian or Israeli. It is not either, or. We need one another: Jews cannot be safe if Palestinians are not safe and free.
We will mark one year since the Hamas-led attack in which over 1,100 Israelis were killed and hundreds more were taken hostage. We will mark one year of the Israeli government’s ongoing massacres and starvation in Gaza, which has killed over 42,000 – and likely tens of thousands more – Palestinians.
It didn’t have to be this way. It still doesn’t.
The massacre of October 7th tragically revealed what many have been saying for decades: that decades of occupation, apartheid, and siege that has subjugated Palestinians will never keep Israelis safe. State oppression of Palestinians has only created an ever-escalating cycle of violence, grief and trauma.
We honor the memories of the dead by fighting for the living. We call for an end to the Israeli government’s genocidal assault on Gaza, and to our own government’s enabling of it. We grieve for the hostages who didn’t and won’t make it out of Gaza alive and who have been abandoned by their government, and we pray for the release of all Israelis and Palestinians who are being held captive and we know that only an end to Israel’s assault on Gaza will give them a chance of freedom. And we know that even when the bombs stop falling and the captives are returned to their families, the only way to truly end the violence is by ending decades of occupation, apartheid and siege. Jewish safety is inextricably linked to freedom, safety, and justice for Palestinians. Let us forge a new future together, grounded in equality, justice, and safety for all.
It is time for us all to stand before corrupt, racist leaders — here and in Israel— who are exploiting grief to advance their violent agenda. In our sorrow, anger, and fear, we say clearly:
Your endless violence and bombs have wrought destruction upon Palestinians and endangered Israelis and Jews around the world.
We must bring about an end to the decades of oppression, dispossession, and violence that the Israeli military has inflicted on the Palestinians.
We reject the lie that decades of subjecting Palestinians to occupation and apartheid protects Jews – in Israel or anywhere in the world. We know there is another way.
Join us on October 7– in grief, in solidarity, and in commitment to a better future. https://t.co/8rXvBf59cg
Much of the carnage in Gaza has been carried out with US-provided military equipment. That's why I will introduce a resolution to block this $20 billion arms sale to Israel.
We must end our complicity in the immoral & illegal war against Palestinians. https://t.co/Re46ho5VBt
BREAKING: A growing list of incumbent Members of Congress are publicly rejecting AIPAC.
This comes as AIPAC ramps up its planned $100M spend against progressive Members of Congress.
Don’t see your elected official? Tag them below & urge them to #RejectAIPAC
It is almost as if there has never been a military solution to this and that that was obvious to everyone being honest about the situation from October. But Biden decided to let Israel kill 40K Palestinians anyway.
Today, I became the first Jewish-American political appointee to resign from the Biden-Harris administration over its policies in Gaza. Here is my resignation letter:
The @ADL has a new campaign called Not On My Campus that encourages universities to "investigate anti-Israel and anti-Zionist student groups"

On the pretext of "eradicating Hamas", ISR has killed more than 20,000 Palestinians in Gaza since Oct7. Yet, in 2023 ISR has also killed 500 Palestinians in the West Bank, where Hamas has no military presence (incl 79 children after Oct7).
Why Palestinian lives do not matter?
Israeli gov failures led to this catastrophe.
Now Israel’s top propagandists are asking the public to turn a blind eye to crimes against humanity in Gaza at unimaginable scales. It is blood curdling.
Massacres do not justify other massacres. They only create more bloodshed.
When I was a little boy, the Japanese military attacked Pearl Harbor. It was a surprise attack, and thousands of U.S. servicemembers perished. As a nation, we were stunned. And we vowed to strike back. Revenge was understandably on everyone’s mind, including many Americans of Japanese descent who opposed the emperor and were peaceful and law-abiding U.S. citizens and residents.
In its zeal to exact that revenge, however, the U.S. government overreacted, out of fear and bigotry. They targeted everyone who happened to look like the people who had carried out the attack. Those of us who had done nothing wrong were forced to pay the consequences for the decisions of others far away and disconnected from us. We were interned for years, in open-air prisons, while America went off to fight Japan, Germany and Italy.
It’s so important that we carry the lessons of the past through to today. Merely because one group commits atrocities and acts with depravity does not mean vast hundreds of thousands or even millions of others should be lumped together with them and made to suffer. We must never paint with the brush of justice and retaliation too broadly, or the toll of human suffering will rise immeasurably.
We're learning that people on our staff have lost Israeli Ioved ones, including a friend who was murdered along with her children. We're terrified for loved ones in Gaza with nowhere to hide as leaders weaponize our pain to call for genocide. War crimes do not justify war crimes.
We’re officially launching our Reject AIPAC campaign, which demands that federal candidates decline endorsements and financial contributions from right-wing lobby the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) 🔥🔥🔥

We went to the AIPAC conference on Monday to ask attendees about AIPAC’s endorsement of insurrectionist republicans who are enabling white nationalism and undermining our futures.
They couldn’t give us a good answer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Former ADL leader Abe Foxman agreed to be in the new documentary @IsraelismFilm. Now he's attacking it by othering its makers.
Abe knows full well that Israelism is made by US Jews, about US Jews, for US Jews who refuse to have our identities equated with occupation & apartheid.
In honor of the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, here's a poster I made in 2017 of Bundist and uprising leader Marek Edelman. Written out of the history for being an anti-Zionist.
