My observation went well!! The only minor issue was that we didn’t have a lot of time since we had to do it on a Friday, but students were able to get a good start on what they were doing.

There’s a few ELL students in one of the classes I usually observe whose first language is Spanish. I can speak some Spanish but I’m not quite fluent, and I worked up the courage to start speaking with them in Spanish last week, and it went well! #edu310
I’ve been learning a lot of different strategies for classroom management and keeping students engaged, which I hadn’t seen very much of at my placement last year. We’re still warming up to each other, but I’ll be in charge of their warm-ups soon! #edu310
I got to meet my mentor teacher this past week! I’ll be starting in the classroom with students this coming Wednesday, and I’m both excited and nervous. I know I’ll do well, it just takes some time to adjust. #edu310
Hi everyone!
I needed to take a break last semester, so I haven’t been in the classroom since last December. I’m nervous about going back since it’s been a while, but I’m looking forward to growing and learning.

I had a really good conversation today with my MT about elements of and strategies for classroom management, and I he said that my ideas were spot on in terms of what to prioritize and that made me feel good :)

@teacherashley21 Aw, that’s so sweet!! I’m glad you’ve been able to build that connection with them, and I guarantee they’ll remember you for years to come :)
I have my third observation this Friday! I’m feeling much more confident compared to my first two observations, so that’s a good sign. Fingers crossed that everything goes to plan! #edu310
@Miss_ZoeK Being able to join in on those “fun” days is always so great. It’s obviously fun, but you also get to join in more on the building of that classroom community :)
The day I was supposed to have my second observation, I was freaking out. I felt like I was on the verge of a panic attack even after trying all of the things that usually calm me down. Luckily, I noticed this before I started and was able to reschedule.
On the day that we had rescheduled it for, it went amazingly!! Everything had gone to plan, and both my supervisor and MT said that I had made improvements in what had been my iffy areas last time. Students were engaged, and it felt great! 🥳
@pinnowmiranda1 The best thing to do when that happens is to correct yourself, maybe give a quick “my bad,” move on, and remember to do better next time. Dwelling on it or giving an extended apology usually doesn’t help the situation.
