Thousands of Indian Muslims Rally to Protect 600-Year-Old Mosque From Demolition

Thousands of Muslims have rallied in the Indian city of Ujjain to protect the more than 600-year-old Shahi Masjid from partial demolition, with worshippers gathering inside and around the historic mosque and some maintaining shifts inside to prevent bulldozers from moving in. Local representatives say the mosque dates to 1390 and fear removing part of its prayer hall and 120-foot minaret could endanger the entire structure. The BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government says the demolition is necessary to widen a road ahead of the 2028 Simhastha Kumbh Hindu pilgrimage.

The confrontation comes amid wider concerns over anti-Muslim discrimination and the treatment of Islamic religious sites under BJP governments. Human Rights Watch has documented unlawful demolitions of Muslim homes, businesses and places of worship in several BJP-governed states, while Amnesty International has described a pattern of punitive demolitions targeting Muslim communities as “bulldozer injustice.” For many Muslims in Ujjain, the fight has become a battle to preserve a centuries-old piece of India’s Islamic heritage.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and Shiv Sena has organised a mass protest march in Mumbai on October 4, 2026 against the Election Commission, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, that seems to be acting as if it is a mere branch of the ruling party. This mass protest is against the gross deception of voters carried out under the guise of 'SIR' (special intensive revision). Although Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and Shiv Sena are taking the lead in organizing this event, it is a people's march; we intend to reach out to all political parties to ensure this becomes a collective voice for the entire political system and the public, rather than being limited to just one or two parties.

We earnestly appeal to the people of Maharashtra to participate in this march in large numbers.

Details regarding the time and venue of the march will be announced soon. Let us meet at this mass protest against 'SIR'!

असम के बाढ़ पीड़ितों के लिए जमीयत उलमा-ए-हिंद के 3 करोड़ 43 लाख रुपये के राहत एवं पुनर्वास कार्यक्रम का पहला चरण पूरा हो चुका है। असम के छह जिलों के 1,565 प्रभावित परिवारों के बैंक खातों में 1 करोड़ 35 लाख रुपये सीधे स्थानांतरित किए जा चुके हैं। इंशाअल्लाह, आगामी एक सप्ताह के भीतर पूरी राशि बाढ़ पीड़ितों के बैंक खातों में भेजी दी जाएगी।

इस पूरी मुहिम की सबसे उल्लेखनीय बात यह है कि राहत पाने वालों में बड़ी संख्या हमारे हम वतन भाई-बहनों की है। जमीयत उलमा-ए-हिंद किसी मुसीबतज़दा व्यक्ति का धर्म, नाम, जाति या पहनावा नहीं देखती हमारे सामने केवल उसकी मुसीबत, जरूरत और इंसानियत होती है।

जो लोग मुसलमानों को मुसलमान कहने के बजाय ‘मियां’ कहकर संबोधित करते हैं और इंसानों को उनके कपड़ों से पहचानने की बात करते हैं, उन्हें असम में जमीयत उलमा-ए-हिंद की इस सेवा-ए-इंसानियत से सबक लेना चाहिए। हम इंसान को उसके धर्म या पहचान से नहीं, बल्कि उसकी जरूरत से पहचानते हैं।

सांप्रदायिकता इंसानों के बीच दीवारें खड़ी करती है, जबकि सेवा-ए-इंसानियत उन्हीं दीवारों को गिराकर दिलों को जोड़ती है। भारत की ताकत नफरत और विभाजन में नहीं, बल्कि आपसी भाईचारे, एकता और सद्भाव में है।

नफरत का सबसे प्रभावी जवाब सेवा है, और असम के बाढ़ पीड़ितों के बीच जमीयत उलमा-ए-हिंद की यह मुहिम इसी सिद्धांत का वास्तविक उदाहरण है।
