Great day to work on our grip, stance and swing with golf clubs. Thinking some of these kiddos will lap me on the course in a few years. ๐ @SmithNewmanPE
@thepespecialist@ElemPE1 @BigTennPhysEd @ForestLakesPE@MsBarclayPE @CoachONeil2010 @CoachPenrod4@JoeyFeith @MrHairPhysEd We use the team shake app. Great team/partner sorting app. Limits discussions about who gets to work with who because the app does it for you. Ton of ways to sort students based upon class needs and desired group sizes. Worth a review.
First bike rodeo in the books this week at Newman. Kids preserved through a damp riding course and their smiles at the end made it so worth it. Thank you to the 3rd grade teachers and the Needham police department for all of your help. @SmithNewmanPE
Took kiddos outside today during our jumping rope unit to warm up with make your own hop scotch spaces in grade 1. So fun to watch them plan out their game areas.
Having some fun working on feet to hand weight transfers in grade 2 with a stick it landing. Student choice of on/off/over the block spaces or use of springboards. Great job everyone!
2nd gr. worked on kicking a rolled ball towards targets. Played cooperative game, +1 pt if ball hits ground before arches, +2 if rolls through target & +3 if ball lands on the pitchers side. Bonus +5 if partner caught it in the air. Thanks @MrDarlingPE@mrskuzPE for set up idea
Third graders did awesome with our zone passing game today. Teams worked together to pick the zone that would allow them to throw and catch successfully. Next week we will add in a defender for an added challenge!
PD = Play Day in the PEHW department! @NavigationGames introduced us to the sport of orienteering, while promoting outdoor exercise and SEL. THANKS @MrTatro_PE for bringing such a unique experience to our community! P.S. Can you tell this team is competitive?
It is beyond frustrating seeing the amount of people who still believe Physical Education is the same as physical activity and/or sport. Please see below the fantastic graphic from @afPE_PE and share with those who may need to see it. I cannot stress this enough!
Our first graders working on refining their underhand throw. Today we focused on our follow through and force. I love this lesson, because we also discuss how reflecting and being honest with ourselves are necessary steps for improvement
4th graders finally got to makeup their bike rodeo rode test last week which was canceled last year with Covid! Great to โseeโ so many smiles on their faces. Now onto 3rd grade!
Training mode for @KidsHeartChall jump rope event next week. Kids have been amazing with social distancing and jumping with their masks on. ๐๐ป Doing our part to support the American Heart association. Thank you Eliot families for your support!
