I feel like listening to BODR while consolidating my exploits from 20 years ago is bullet-shaving a wormhole. Too much nostalgia - can I make this a full-time job??
@ooPo@leonkiriliuk Now that I have achieved my childhood dream of never growing up - where can I find one?? TG16 was the first console I bought with *my* money, the TurboExpress was a teenage dream deferred
I've been up for ~2 days laughing and smiling at our ad hoc 20-year "reunion" of #ps2dev pillars on the scene's Discord. Much ๐ค to the PS2 Scene that defined and launched my career in games! Excited to reunite and check out the phenomenal group of today ๐๐ฝhttps://t.co/0fCo3cRXuU
@Drakonite I retrieved one or secretly kept one ๐ค I should be able to post most of it later today. Looking for PSP currently
You had gone all the way with UMCD(R?), correct? I remember some sort of drama. Sjeep cannot possibly still be mad 20 years later?! ๐๐
@ooPo @tpflug @jbit_net Any issues with these going up to GitHub? I'd love to help with the transfer, if needed. Side note: Is anyone doing any sort of ps2dev or pspdev today? Outside of us middle-aged farts on the rem. bump ๐๐ฝ @oobles @enbylenore @Drakonite@tiraniddo@psxdev
6/6 The ordeal makes me wonder what else happens behind the scenes when exploits are discovered and published. Was I wrong for hacking PSP while licensed on PS2? Not legally. I didn't leak keys nor enable piracy. Of course today I would disclose (in '03 data/privacy weren't)
1/6 WITNESSETH! A thread with history of how Sony had treated us "hackers" in the past. Sony attempted to drive me out of games for years for legally opening the PS2 and PSP. This "agreement" went down before the George Hotz lawsuit on PS3. I'll add the background in the thread
5/6 I was required to sign the OP agreement with Budcat. It wasn't enough. Budcat ported games and wasn't viable w/out a PS3 license. Sony's bottom line: I shouldn't touch their tech, period. Activision was purchasing Budcat but couldn't push them to back down, and I was fired
