My beloved people of Somalia,
Today marks a special moment in our nation's journey and in my own life of public service.
As we celebrate four years since the formation of the DanQaran Government, I am deeply humbled by the trust that the Somali people have placed in us and by the opportunity to serve our beloved nation. This day, 15 June 2026, also carries a historic significance.
By completing four full years in office since my appointment, I have become the longest-serving Prime Minister in the history of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
I receive this milestone not as a personal achievement, but as a testament to the growing maturity, stability, and resilience of our democratic institutions.
The true achievement is not the length of service, but what that service has delivered for the people of Somalia.
Four years ago, when President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud entrusted me with the responsibility of leading the government, we committed ourselves to a simple but profound mission: to serve the Somali people and advance the national interest.
Together, we set out to strengthen our institutions, improve security, expand public services, create opportunities for our youth, empower women, rebuild infrastructure, and restore Somalia's place in the region and the world. Today, we can proudly say that Somalia has made meaningful progress.
We witnessed historic debt relief that unlocked new opportunities for economic growth.
We secured the lifting of the decades-long arms embargo. Somalia joined the East African Community and took its seat on the United Nations Security Council. We expanded education, recruited thousands of teachers, strengthened healthcare services, modernised government systems, advanced digital identification, improved infrastructure, and expanded support for vulnerable communities.
These accomplishments belong to every Somali citizen.
They belong to the soldier defending our nation.
They belong to the teacher shaping our future.
They belong to the farmer, the fisherman, the entrepreneur, the civil servant, the mother raising her family, and the young person striving to build a better tomorrow.
As we approach the 66th anniversary of our independence, we are reminded that nation-building is not measured in years alone. It is measured in the lives we improve, the opportunities we create, and the hope we inspire.
Our work is not finished.
There are still challenges before us. There are still dreams waiting to be fulfilled. There are still communities that need greater opportunity and development.
But I remain confident because I have seen the strength of the Somali people.
I have seen a nation that refuses to give up.
I have seen citizens who continue to believe in a better future.
I have seen a Somalia that is rising.
I wish to extend my sincere gratitude to H.E President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud for his leadership and partnership, to the Council of Ministers, members of Parliament, regional leaders, civil servants, security forces, development partners, and most importantly, the people of Somalia.
Thank you for your trust.
Thank you for your support.
Thank you for allowing me the honour of serving our nation during this historic chapter.
The road ahead remains long, but our destination is clear: a peaceful, prosperous, democratic, and united Somalia.
Together, we have made history.
May Allah bless the Federal Republic of Somalia and its people.
Thank you.
Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Somalia's oil blocks and Türkiye's share:
The Turks are the first ones to take a risk.
People say: 'You can't go to Somalia. It's dangerous. War is happening everywhere. There are pirates. There are terrorists.'
So if someone steps up and says, 'Man, I will take this risk with you,' we will hold them in the highest regard.
The Turks took three blocks, if they ask for thirty more tomorrow, we will give them to them.
@ProfAbdiSamatar How did your meeting with Ted Cruz go? I bet you told him you were planning to write this nonsense. Frankly, that’s the only explanation for a take this detached from reality.
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said that the country’s long-standing 4.5 clan-based power-sharing system is no longer sufficient for Somalia’s future and voiced support for a democratic electoral system based on direct voting.
Speaking in an interview with Dawan Africa, Mohamud stated that while the 4.5 system could remain in place temporarily until a national census and other technical preparations are completed, Somalia should continue moving toward a “one person, one vote” model. He noted that various transitional models exist around the world but claimed that the opposition rejected such proposals.
Emphasizing that Somalia has been governed under temporary political arrangements for decades, Mohamud argued that the country must establish a permanent and democratic political system. He added that Somalia’s future should be shaped by strong political parties and elections in which citizens directly choose their leaders.
President of the Federal Republic of Somalia and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud: "The security of Mogadishu is non-negotiable. No individual or group will be allowed to undermine it."
“We have granted our Turkish brothers three oil and gas exploration blocks, and if they request more, we will gladly grant them as well. Türkiye is a strategic partner that stood by Somalia during its most difficult times. The relationship between our two countries will continue to serve as a model of brotherhood, cooperation, and mutual interests.”
—President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud
I told our Somali Referee Omar Artan that while his World Cup officiating dream may have been delayed, it has never been diminished. Long before a ball is kicked, he has already won the hearts of millions and secured his place in history.
Omar Artan has done more than unite the footballing world, he has ignited hope in every child who dares to dream beyond the horizon. Dreams may be deferred, but they are never defeated.
I extend my deepest gratitude to FIFA and CAF for recognizing and believing in his talent, integrity, and dedication throughout the years.
For a lifetime, Omar carried a whistle not as a symbol of authority, but as a commitment to fairness, justice, and the spirit of the game. He devoted himself to ensuring that football was decided by merit, yet fate denied him the stage he so richly deserved.
Today, I had the honor of hosting Omar Artan, an icon, a role model, and living proof that true greatness is not measured by the matches you officiate, but by the lives you inspire.
Omar's journey reminds us all that character outlasts circumstance, and that those who stand for fairness ultimately leave the deepest legacy
Congratulations to Hon. @AadanMadobe on his election as Leader of South West State. I commend the people of South West for their peaceful participation in the one-person, one-vote process, from district level to the State Assembly, marking an important step in democratic governance.
NEW: Somali Parliament Speaker Sheikh Aden Madobe has been elected President of Southwest State following the region’s first-ever one person, one vote elections.
@DrBaadiyow Oh, Dr Baadiyoow you are one of a few individuals who are fair in Somali politics, however, my heart refuses to accept that those guys armed with heavy weapons at the center of the city are opposition; they're rebels. Let us call a spade a spade.
