Dear Comrades,
The fight for Five-Day Banking must not be seen merely as a struggle for implementation of an agreement that has remained pending for more than 30 months. This is a fight for our existence, our dignity, our families and our fundamental right to a humane working life.
Public Sector Bank employees serve far more customers than our private-sector counterparts. Even with private banks accounting for a substantial share of the banking market, it is overwhelmingly the Public Sector Banks and their employees who carry the burden of Government-sponsored schemes, financial inclusion, social-sector banking and the last-mile delivery of public policy.
We work for institutions owned by the people and for a Government that expects us to reach every citizen. We have never shied away from that responsibility. But those who expect us to serve the nation must also recognise one simple truth:
We are not robots. We are not machines. We are not AI tools. We are human beings.
We have families waiting for us, children who need our time, parents who need our care, and lives beyond targets, reviews, late-night meetings and relentless workplace pressure.
We are not asking for privilege. We are asking for dignity, balance and justice.
The growing culture of excessive working hours, constant pressure and an increasingly toxic work environment cannot become the new normal. Five-Day Banking is one important step towards restoring humanity to our workplaces.
Save the banker. Save the banking family. Respect the commitment already made.
Five-Day Banking is not a luxury.
It is not an unreasonable demand.
It is a just demand whose time has come.
Let us stand together, for ourselves, for our families and for the generations of bankers who will come after us.
Five-Day Banking is For Dignity. For Family. For a Humane Workplace.
March ahead with courage and unity for the three-day strike from 28th to 30th September and make it a resounding success. No fear, no threat and no intimidation can weaken our collective resolve. Officers and employees stand together , we are all strikers in this historic struggle.

Bankers serve the nation every day. Respect their right to work-life balance. 5 Days Banking is a long-pending demand. Honour the commitment, respect the workforce.
Every 24x7 banking service has a banker behind it and a family waiting at home. We agreed to the 5-day week in March 2024 and accepted longer weekday hours. The regulator, the insurer and the Government all work 5 days.
Our demand is just. The delay is not.

Bankers keep India connected 24×7.
But behind every transaction, target and deadline is a human being, with a family, responsibilities and a life beyond the branch.
A 5-day week was agreed in March 2024, with bankers accepting longer working hours from Monday to Friday.
The demand is reasonable. The commitment is proven. The delay is difficult to justify.
Implement 5-Day Banking now.

#5DayBankingNow#AIBOC@PMOIndia

#5DayBankingNow#AIBOC@PMOIndia@FinMinIndia
Employees of RBI and LIC already enjoy a 5-day week; bank staff deserve equal treatment and timely implementation of this agreement. #5DayBankingNow#AIBOC@PMOIndia

The extra workload on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturdays highlights the urgent need for the agreed 5-day week to be implemented. #5DayBankingNow#AIBOC@PMOIndia

Imagine the benefits of a 5-day banking week. Less stress for bank employees translates to enhanced service for us all. #Implement5DayBanking https://t.co/kPiZSAFal6
A better banking experience starts with a sustainable workweek. With acute staff shortages and mounting stress, 5-day banking is about public service and employee well-being, not a privilege.
UFBU has been pressing since 2015; IBA has already recommended it to the Government (MoU 07-12-2023), and the 12th Bipartite/9th Joint Note (08-03-2024) records the Saturday holiday clause, pending approvals/clearances.
Honour what’s on record. Approve all Saturdays off.

Less workdays can reduce employee burnout in banks, creating a happier workforce that is more motivated to serve customers. #Implement5DayBanking https://t.co/tR9c4HzykS
A rested workforce serves the public better. With staff shortages and rising stress, 5-day banking is a service-quality issue, not a “perk.” UFBU has pursued this since 2015; IBA has recommended it to the Government (MoU 07-12-2023), and it’s included in the 12th Bipartite/9th Joint Note (08-03-2024), pending clearances.
Let’s finish what’s already agreed.
