@dannycantalk I understand the instinct for objectivity to mean mind-independent, but I think in most cases what we mean is 1. metaphysically real, and 2. "prior" to any particular human life. I.e. God created the world s.t. "the good life" necessarily conforms to his will and desires.
@BriskittyThe3rd As someone who studies this subject matter myself it’s additionally a bit frustrating when arguments like this come up because in general whether or not a miracle happened is not the sort of question serious historians are concerned with in the first place.
@denimneverdies Where moral principles are based off of the character of God, and God is constrained by his character (He is an immutable being) such that He cannot command or do something contrary to it. There are different approaches to this as well that would avoid such a problem.
@denimneverdies The more interesting philosophical question this would ultimately break down into is whether you believe morals are determined by the sayings of God or something else. Most divine command theorists would hold something at least as subtle as William Lane Craig’s version, 1/2
@Zeronelite It seems to me that “lesser evil” is a linguistic counterpart to “greater evil.” It seems likely that there is a such thing as greater evils, so we can probably comparatively speak of “lessers”. That said, a much more controversial meta-ethical question concerns “better” evils
@JasonValZz@BiXolotl That's kind of the issue though, is you think by default all any society outside of Greece and Rome had technologically was sticks
@scarlett_262@sodjthe3rd The gruesomeness may have been forgiven, if still rightly criticized for being another example of violence against women being over-portrayed by male artists, if there had been any sense that YG actually views trans people as human beings
@khonshus3@40URTY Maybe woke in its true positive meaning, but not in the bastardized sense of neutered, soft, square, overly-concerned with political correctness, etc. I think OP in the quote tweet was clearly using the second, pejorative meaning.
@JacktheFate@Cadenza_23@KingBrokenT@ilovemypeanut7 Exactly what that looks like might depend on where you live. If you’re in a major city there’s almost certainly like 10 grassroots Black-centered organizations working in your area that just need hands and donations. Start there and ask them what they need.
@JacktheFate@Cadenza_23@KingBrokenT@ilovemypeanut7 It absolutely is. White leftists in America have routinely excluded Black people and issues from their movements, and leaders of Black movements have routinely been murdered by white institutions, and your response is “build Black socialism.” Snowflake whites smh
