During this school closure period, we have many resources parents can access to assist their children's learning outside of the classroom. Example:
➡️gather a variety of loose parts from indoors and outdoors (e.g., pine cones, string), make something and write a story about it
Support a future where climate change is no longer a threat. Today, join millions of people by turning off your lights at 8:30 p.m. for #EarthHour2020. What other energy sources could we power down? Do you think your family has used more or less energy since being home? Why?

Students estimated the amount of times they could complete small activities within one minute. They tested them out and discovered just how short a minute can actually feel! Here are some of the activities students tested out! @HDSBMath
How tall is Mrs. Smith? Students estimated my height using nonstandard units. Students then measured to see the accuracy of their estimates. After looking at the results, we discussed why we needed more of some units than others.
On our 100th day of school we made hats by filling up 10 ten frames. We wrote different number sentences that added to 10 and decorated the headband with lots of stickers, stamps and colours!
In Social Studies we are learning about roles and responsibilities. Students brainstormed what their roles at home are and some of the responsibilities that come with those roles. Ask your child how their roles and responsibilities are similar and different from school.
In science we are learning about how the sun is very important to our earth. One of its many important jobs that we have been learning about is how it provides energy to plants. We traced the flow of energy from the sun all the way to what we usually have for dinner.
