@prestonjbyrne@MCRReiners I’m not in favour of it, but doesn’t the US charge tax on your assets if you give up citizenship? And if you leave the US without giving up citizenship, it just carries on taxing you.
@CPSUK@TonyDowson5@NCA_UK You say “three brothers have been imprisoned today” but that’s not actually true, is it? It’s reported that Amar Ilyas was able to abscond and is in Pakistan.
The first major wave of online misinformation resulted in Brexit, a decision that the majority of economists regard as the most damaging economic choice Britain has made in modern times, making millions of working families poorer.
Now it appears a second wave may succeed in forcing out a democratically elected Prime Minister who in a short timeframe has a track record of delivering policy designed to help millions of working families. Not a perfect man, but certainly one of the better PMs of the last 30 years or so.
A wave of gross & obvious misinformation, spread and amplified by foreign-owned social media platforms, in a deliberate campaign designed to indoctrinate UK citizens, may have toppled a British Prime Minister.
We are going down a very dark path here.
This story hits every cliche: brothers involved in grooming, drug/weapons dealing, local councils, social work, gangster taxi driver gets stabbed while being the director of a (probably local council funded) anti knife crime charity.
And the cherry on top:
UPDATE: A Russian warship fired a couple of warning shots close to a UK-registered yacht in the Channel after also sounding an alert to avoid it sailing too close, a defence source said.
Investigations are still underway to establish exactly what happened.
From what is understood to be the case so far, the Admiral Grigorovich - a Russian frigate - appears to be having difficulty controlling its movements. It is not clear why, perhaps an engine problem.
The warship is thought to have sounded an alert to the yacht to avoid a collision but it didn’t change course so a couple of warning shots were fired - though not directly at the yacht.
The shots “were certainly not fired at the yacht”, the source said.
The source said that such a course of action was perfectly reasonable.
The incident took place about 20 nautical miles off the Isle of Wight.
The Royal Navy has been tracking the Russian warship close to UK waters for the past two months. It has been helping to escort Russian-flagged vessels through the Channel. But it was not involved with escorting a Cameroon-flagged tanker that is part of Russia’s shadow fleet, which was intercepted by British forces at the weekend.
This is extraordinary. Great reporting by Will Godley and Tom Federicks.
Alan and Jane told @GBNEWS: “We followed all the collision regulations… the closest we got to them was 500m… and as soon as we heard the gun shots, we put our engine on.” https://t.co/sfrPCLxR54
