🚨 Major administrative restructuring in Tamil Nadu
The State government has ended the practice of obtaining the Governor’s prior approval for appointing the Chief Secretary and Head of Police Force/DGP. Appointment orders can now be issued without gubernatorial (Governor related) clearance.
The revised framework also gives CM Vijay greater authority over key appointments, transfers and disciplinary matters involving senior bureaucrats.
Other changes include:
🔹 CM’s approval mandatory for expenditure above ₹2 crore (recurring) and ₹5 crore (non-recurring)
🔹 Major land acquisitions and inter-government land transfers require joint clearance from the CM and Revenue Minister
The new order replaces the standing instructions issued between 2022 and 2025.

TVK-led Tamil Nadu government bans mineral transportation/smuggling to Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh for three months.
\\And Whereas, the constant movement of heavily loaded trucks including multi-axle vehicles severely damage local roads and many routes leading to border checkpoints are narrow and the local infrastructure is not built to handle such relentless heavy freight and the sheer volume of trucks moving toward the border causes massive traffic bottlenecks for local commuters and the movement of heavy vehicles on narrow roads has led to increase in road traffic accidents, many of them being fatal;
And Whereas, infrastructure development and urbanisation is happening steadfast in Tamil Nadu which requires a seamless supply of building and construction materials like stone and aggregates and the economically exploitable rough stone deposits in Tamil Nadu are available only in a limited number of districts and significant portions of such mineral bearing areas in districts such as Kanniyakumari, Tenkasi, Theni, Coimbatore, Tiruppur and Krishnagiri districts are situated in the Eco-Sensitive Zones of the Western Ghats region;
And Whereas, the present production of rough stone and aggregates from the operational quarries within the State is not adequate to fully meet the growing internal domestic demand arising from infrastructure, housing and industrial development activities;
And Whereas the large-scale transportation of construction aggregates to neighbouring States further constrains the availability of construction materials and creates an artificial supply-demand imbalance as well as inflation of the prices of construction materials which ultimately affects the public and private infrastructure development projects within the State;
And Whereas, Rough stone is not a scarce mineral in the neighbouring states like Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh;
And Whereas, the huge supply-demand gap fuels the unscientific/illegal quarrying, storage and transportation of stone and aggregates leading to excessive mining beyond permitted depths in most cases resulting in serious threat to the environment and ecology of the State;
In exercise of the powers delegated under rule 3(A) of the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Illegal Mining, Transportation and Storage of Minerals and Minerals Dealers Rules, 2011, as a precautionary measure to ensure uninterrupted supply of minerals within the State, ensure protection of the environment and ecology and also prevent illegal mining and transportation of minerals, the transportation of rough stone and aggregates to other States except Puducherry and Karaikal Districts of Puducherry UT, is hereby, temporarily banned for three months with immediate effect. The contravention of the ban by any person will attract stringent action as per the existing Act and the rules made there under\\
