@sgarcia150 @annaaacha @sgarcia150 I agree, there should be more monitoring of the academic programs that provide support for the student athletes, and it should mandatory for the atudents to have allocated time for them to participate in internships and other academic events. @abhornUCRedu
African American College Student athletes deserve equitable academic opportunities. This means colleges need to be better regulated to ensure they are providing these opportunities.@abhornUCRedu#ucr150
The NCAA and these institutions need to stop using the term amatureism to take advantage of their student athletes. They have a monopoly based on free labor and it needs to stop. End the exploitation of the student athlete!! @abhornUCRedu#UCR150
@MayaLee92628070@abhornUCRedu Yes! It is very disheartening for college students to be so restricted in the optiins they have when choosing to transfer, and of course it is all about the money. The NCAA needs to do better!! @abhornUCRedu#UCR150
Transferring from one University to another is hard, specially when you are also have to follow all the NCAA rules and regulations as a college athlete. College athletes need easier to transfer guidelines. Not More Stress! @abhornUCRedu#UCR150
It is crucial for athletes and coaches to know the symptoms of a concussion. 50% of concussions go unreported, leaving the athlete vulnerable to longterm damage. The NCAA needs to enforce its regulations on this or change them all together. Lets do better! @abhornUCRedu#UCR150
@MayaLee92628070@abhornUCRedu Women college sports should receive equal funding, and academic supports. It is upsetting to see that women athletics get the bare minimum when it comes to funding and equitability. @abhornUCRedu#UCR150
Title IX has helped make athletics more equal for students of different genders and race groups. Yet, women are not recruited to participate in division 1 athletic teams. Is Title IX really creating equal opportunities for women? @abhornUCRedu#UCR150
@JBlas006@abhornUCRedu It is so crazy that student athletes do not have proper representation when signing the NLI. Given that it is a law binding contract student athletes need to be better educated and properly represented when signing the agreement. @abhornUCRedu#UCR150
The penalty for breaching the NLI contract is a heavy burden for athletes, preventing them from participating in college sports for a year sets them back professionally and academically if they can't afford tuition cost otherwise. @abhornUCRedu#UCR150
@AlexCruz153153@abhornUCRedu The NCAA Regulations definitely need to be updated to better reflect the well-being of the students. It is highly unfair that student athletes are limited in their options for success. @abhornUCRedu#UCR150
The NCAA needs to be modified to better account for the ensuring of student athletes having a fair opportunity at success without being held back by the guise of amatuerism. @abhornUCRedu#UCR150
@JBlas006@abhornUCRedu At least this was true to years prior to COVID. It seems that during Covid, athletes were able to opt out and retain their scholarships.#ucr150@abhornUCRedu
@JBlas006@abhornUCRedu It's my understanding that athletes are able to opt out, but by doing so, they lose any scholarships, grants, or anything given to them as part of their contract. @abhornUCRedu#ucr150
Equality is not equal when the rights and well-being of female college athletes is at risk. We must continue to work towards fair rights and advocacy for women athletes.@abhornUCRedu#ucr150
