Sad to lose this elegant and majestic spirit, Judith Jamison, at age 81. For decades she danced for and led the Alvin Ailey dance troupe and moved audiences along the way. Rest in Peace!
Democrat Angela Alsobrooks has won the Maryland Senate race, becoming the first Black Senator for the state!
Alsobrooks is currently a county executive in Maryland. Maryland voters made history on Tuesday, voting to send Angela Alsobrooks to Washington as the first Black woman to represent the state in the U.S. Senate.
Only four Black women have ever been elected to the Senate in the nation's history; tonight, two more have been added to that list.
Tonight, I stand humbled and grateful as the next State Senator for Georgia’s 38th District. This seat carries profound historical weight - once held by the first Black man to serve in our state senate, and now will be held by the first openly gay man to do so. #gapol
CONGRATULATIONS ANGELA ALSOBROOKS, projected to defeat Larry Hogan for Senate in Maryland!!!
She joins Senator-elect Lisa Blunt Rochester as two Black Women achieve VICTORY in the U.S. Senate!! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
Democrat Lisa Blunt Rochester has just made history, becoming Delaware’s first Black female senator.
The Philadelphia native defeated Republican challenger Eric Hansen for the U.S. Senate seat set to be vacated by retiring Sen. Tom Carper, who has held it since 2001.
The historic win comes eight years after she became Delaware’s first Black female congressperson and won every re-election bid since.
Congratulations, Senator Blunt Rochester!

The mob that burned Ocoee in 1920 to stop Blacks from voting. Hundreds died most by being burned in their homes. Many victims were children who could not escape the flames......and you may not VOTE?
(The Teach the Truth tour will be in Ocoee tomorrow.)
This is the mass grave where hundreds of victims of the Ocoee Riot of 1920 are buried. Notice the sign does not say what happened to these people. Notice too that there are no grave markers. Just this open field. It happened because black people tried to VOTE.
Love the new tennis courts at the Althea Gibson Tennis Complex!
Thank you to Derrick Manning, Kim Godwin-Manning, and others that donated to make this happen.
