A.4: By working across grade levels and content areas, librarians are well-positioned to be leaders who effect positive change. Assume best intentions, share ideas, and look for commonality with colleagues #is516
Absolutely! I try to attend at least one choir concert, musical, play, and game from each sport. Not only are Ss excited to see us there, but it's fun to see them perform as a teammate and leader in a different context. Plus, sometimes you get to meet their parents #is516
Yes - attending their events! In high school they ignored me, but in jr high they are (usually) SO excited when they see their teachers at the play/basketball game/concert. #is516
I agree! I learned so much at the #NCSSNetwork conference in Chicago. The resources I gained there have been passed on to many of my colleagues and student observers. I just shared this in #is516 last week https://t.co/uesDUJTQWL
A.1 I can join professional organizations, keep up on current articles in the field, take extra classes & attend yearly conferences to show commitment to continuous change & professional growth in the field. #is516@iSchoolK12

A.1: I commit to continual growth by joining professional organizations like #NCSSNetwork and attending conferences. For professional growth closer to home, I want to observe my colleagues more frequently & initiate more interdisciplinary collaboration. #is516
Here’s our twitter thread for the democratic debate!! Each tweet will be followed by the tweeter’s name. These thoughts are not reflective of Centennial Rho Kappa as well as the greater National Rho Kappa Honors society.
A.4 As a current Social Studies teacher, “future ready” learning means that students have the opportunity to improve their skills and dispositions that will make them an engaged and effective part of our democracy #is516
A3: Part of long-term advocacy is avoiding burn out (both of the asker and the “ask-ee”) Talking about larger goals, and smaller steps, makes a journey of advocacy on a project sustainable for all involved. Growth is slow, like trees #is516
A.2 If we take a leadership role as librarians by co-planning & co-teaching with classroom Ts, our impact will be felt in every corner of the building. When people see the benefits of the librarians in their lives, we have made advocacy an “organic part” of our practice #is516
A1. Digital literacy! Assuming that students as digital natives are experts in the field is entirely false. Many of them have the world at their fingertips but do not know how to access it. It is so much scarier with fake news/clickbait drawing their attention. #is516@iSchoolk12
A.1 I advocate for inquiry-based learning because I am excited about the opportunity for students to be engaged in critical content while practicing 21st century skills #is516
A.3 Student surveys help me reflect on my practice. I ask Ss about the pace of instruction, their favorite activities, & what could improve. My favorite survey question for Ss is “which lessons have most impacted the way you see the world? How so?” What do you ask Ss? #is516
A3: As a classroom teacher, I struggle with giving up control! I would want to make sure I am letting my collaborator have equal instruction time without taking over. @iSchoolK12#is516
Absolutely! Throughout the semester I have students track their progress on one "gold" goal sheet after each assessment. It helps them see how they've done in the past and reflect on what they're doing to improve. #is516
A.1 Self-assessment prevents Ss from simply going “through the motions” & instead, encourages them to engage in deeper learning. Ts gain insight from the self-assessment while students internalize new information & become more in-tune with their own strengths & weaknesses #is516
A.4 I'm excited to share the Woman & American History (WAMS) curriculum made by @NYHistory with teachers. It's expanding each year with excellent resources @ischool#IS516#WomenAtTheCenter https://t.co/DKehoMAyoZ
