A4) Set boundaries for yourself! My first year I spend 12 hours a day on teaching. This year, I made it a goal to try to leave around contract time. My students are getting a better teacher because of this boundary! #kolb444
A4) Might sound cliche, but be yourself! The interview team wants to not only learn about your teaching abilities but also your personality! They want to know if you are someone they can get along with in the workplace #kolb444
Hello Teacher Twitter! Long time no see. Quick updates:
• I’m starting my Master’s program at @UM_Dearborn in their Reading Specialist program this fall
• I’ll be teaching my two favorite grades in my first ever split class this year! 4th AND 5th grade, here I come!
I submitted my first graduate application this week. As a first gen (for undergrad and now hopefully master’s), this is a huge, lonely, big, exciting step.
I have recently joined @orangetheory and have been working out 2-3x a week with a teaching partner. Not only am I feeling healthier outside of the classroom, but I can tell a total difference in my mood while I am teaching. One of the best decisions I have made in a while!
@ms_greenwald My best uses are for student-led research opportunities and extended learning opportunities to practice skills for early-finishers (I love IXL!). #kolb444
A4) Just like we teach kids about different tools they might use in their learning- use it purposely. Technology is a tool. Let's not use it just because it's there. #kolb444
A5) IXL! I am lucky that my district offers it in 4 subjects- math, language arts (reading and writing), social studies, and science. I love the diagnostic feature as well. It helps group kids together in different skill sets. It allows for hetero- and homogenous groups!#Kolb444
@NicoleAfton2 As a second-year teacher, I am still trying to figure this one out. Kinda backwards, but try not to give feedback deadlines to your students. For example- don't tell your students that you will have tests graded by Friday. You never know what might come up Thursday night!
