So grateful for our PTC and special ed team for all they did last night to help make @PennoyerSchoolโs Trunk or Treat a great experience for our students! #pennoyerpride
@_Tarah_L @dr_s_bertrand This is so true! While it is important to have students represented in our classroom texts, there is a lot more we need to be doing. I think guest speakers would be a really great way to show representation as well!#TCHEdBirds#TCH258F20
@StrackSara @dr_s_bertrand I agree that creating a welcoming environment is important for our students. Making sure they're represented in lessons as well and not just in texts is also so important, I'm so glad you brought this up!#TCHEdBirds#TCH258F20
@anna_tonarelli @dr_s_bertrand I'm glad you mentioned avoiding the colorblind the perspective, this is something we need to make sure we're doing! Incorporating funds of knowledge is also great, since so many of our students will offer different perspectives.#TCHEdBirds#TCH258F20
@MiaVanella @dr_s_bertrand I love this idea! I think sending home surveys to families is also a great way to keep our families involved in our classroom and their students' learning.
@TibblesHayley @dr_s_bertrand Making sure our students are represented all year is so important! I'm glad you mentioned how this shouldn't be done just during specific holidays.
@dr_s_bertrand A3. I will incorporate social justice by creating a sense of community in my classroom where we can discuss real world problems. I also will connect our instruction to my students' lives. #TCHEdBirds#TCH258F20
@gracedebacker @dr_s_bertrand Hi Grace, I think this is a great way to use literacy in social studies. It's super important that our students learn the facts and truths in history. I've never heard of this book so I'm so glad you shared it with us, sounds really great to have in a classroom!
@MaryPerfect2 @dr_s_bertrand I haven't heard of this book either but I'm glad you mentioned it! Definitely looking into it when we're finished with our chat.
