@EmilyAPaschall Just as important as that first year, keep checking and supporting those teachers who are up for licensing renewal (year 4/5). At that point they are deciding if they stay or go, and they support may be a key decision between keeping an excellent teacher or not.

No 2 tip for teachers wanting to get students to engage in mathematical discourse. Mind the Cognitive Load. If the tool being used is new to students, lower the cognitive demand of the math. If the math is new, use tools they already know how to use. #mathequity #iteachmath
