@operationskevin @mateocernosek @_Andrenam_ Thanks, Kevin. Agree!

1/ It's such a rare experience that I feel so compelled by a founding team & mission. I hope you'll watch this very short video explaining the threat & innovation to respond to it. Maritime will be the new Space. Hats off to @mateocernosek @_Andrenam_

I competed once for this deal and lost to @firstround so I stayed close and led the next round. Gladly swallowed that pill.

Highest GDP growth in OECD
Highest R&D spend in OECD
Highest birthrate in OECD

Other than that, we’re a failing country.

The Norwegian Sovereign wealth fund divested its Israeli positions over the last year.

Just sayin....

Crazy. Some people are just so gifted mathematically. Color me impressed.

[Alex Cohen @anothercohen]

Most impressive thing I’ve ever seen.

I would like to invest my entire net worth in Cognition now

[Jacques Sisteron @jdsisteron]

The pace of development at this company is off the charts. Prouder than ever to be an investor in @_Andrenam_ . The maritime domain is essential to global commerce and modern conflict, and Andrenam is nailing the observability and communications layer. Nice video @mateocernosek @alex__chu__

Two core beliefs driving our latest investment in Daytona:

1. @ivanburazin and @JukicVedran are sensationally talented founders; hard to overstate the talent, guts and grit behind their rapid growth.

2. We are intensely bullish on future demand for sandbox compute. Even beyond the prevailing use cases (background agents, RL, CI), I expect that emerging patterns of autonomy (autoresearch, simulation, "explorer" agents in non-verifiable domains etc...) will be voracious consumers of sandbox compute.

A longer treatment co-written with @kevinyzhang on the fundraise and how we're thinking about the category.

Want to share a bit more about investing in @ivanburazin @JukicVedran and the growing @daytonaio team (3rd time now after leading the Seed) in this $60M Series B led by our friends @mattturck @abimbhet @FirstMarkCap.

Every turn doubters threw shade at the "sandbox" space...

Most people don't even understand what Zionism means. @havivrettiggur does an incredible job at explaining it.

The Pale Blue Dot

The bitter lesson of space, is “look at Earth”, it’s ironic that whatever goes to space always ends up facing Earth. It’s also ironic that it’s a pale BLUE dot, and not a pale green dot.

“Earth” is complete misnomer it’s only 29% earth, the Earth is 71% water. We all live on a planet that is totally dominated by open water.

The ocean is vast, it’s open, it’s free, it’s also very accessible even for massive things… especially for massive things.

81% of world trade is by sea, $24.5 trillion.

If you control sea lanes and divert trade routes, you control 10s of trillions of dollars of capital flows, nation states thrive or die on these flows.

The majority of the planet’s mineral wealth is just sitting on the seabed waiting to be picked up.

Even seawater itself is a giant pool of minerals, the salt in the sea is ions of sodium, magnesium, potassium, calcium, chlorides.

It’s also the best heat sink in the solar system, any large thermal energy process is optimally located at sea.

“Maritime will be the new space”

… is totally right.

The ocean is many orders of magnitude more massive than space, because space is a void.

You can build a 1 million ton machine and float it out to sea, we’ve done that before, we can do it often.

A lot of Western nations are finding it’s very hard / almost impossible to build things on land where a society has strong property rights and distributed land ownership. Independent courts and strong property rights make infrastructure a challenge.

But this doesn’t apply in space, and it doesn’t apply at sea.

So the sea and the open ocean are going to be secured, and are going to be developed and industrialised. Because we can.

AI = Autonomy, and autonomy is a big unlock for 71% of our planet. The opportunity to go and build offshore in the maritime domain is huge.

It’s fully of resources, you can build bigger (stuff floats) you can run machines harder (unlimited heat sink), you can deliver to every major economy.

You don’t need anyone’s permission.

@joshk @upfrontvc @_Andrenam_ Thanks, Josh. Fun to have another project together

[Mark Suster @msuster]

Also worth noting @alex__chu__ who is the co-founder. Alex, I searched for your Twitter handle but it was too stealth for me to find it :)

[Mike Annunziata @nunzi46]

These two @mateocernosek and @alex__chu__ are locked in

From two-man sprints for Navy demos (pictured here in summer ‘24) to a team of 30 clocking thousands of hours in the water

Not hard to see the trajectory of where this one’s going…

@philhie @mateocernosek @_Andrenam_ Bretton Woods was many things but an important tenet was protecting global free trade. Port security, guarantees on the seas underpinned by post WWII US supremacy. We are less dominant. Thus the seas are increasingly contested

[Mark Suster @msuster]

@superpobe @mateocernosek @_Andrenam_ You will see a LOT more investments in Maritime in the years ahead. I feel confident

[Mark Suster @msuster]

@jared_western @mateocernosek @_Andrenam_ Thanks, Jared. Great to see more LA Hard Tech companies driving global innovation.
