@EquityBrian Unfortunately the very first investing book I read many years ago was a value investing book. Horrible mistake on my part. If I would have started out focusing on growth and what new innovations were being adopted all around, I would have retired 10 years ago. And my parents too
@alphacharts365 Wow. That’s an incredibly impressive statistic. Ouch - in hindsight I took profits on the PLTR shares I accumulated under $10 WAY too early. Gotta let those winners run further.
@FIREDUpWealth I wish I had completely tuned out the smart sounding PhD permabears who screamed sell in 2008, ‘18, ‘22 etc. The market is rigged to go higher & those were generational buying opportunities. If I had followed the charts & not the headlines my parents & I would already be retired.
@FIREDUpWealth In the early 2000s, instead of exhaustively applying what I learned in college & digging through dumpsters to find beat down stocks that could maybe possibly bounce back, I should have bought the new disruptors (AAPL, NFLX etc). I wish I never read that 1st value investing book.
@IA_Penguin@teagan_kavan Our VT Hokie house has loved watching her pitch this postseason! She sets an amazing example for all of the young ballplayers out there, on and off the field. Outstanding teammate as well. Congrats on the championship win!!
@mmcornelius That matchup will be fun to watch! Seeing our two softball teams compete again would be even better. Hopefully the schools can get a softball matchup scheduled soon. Go Hokies!
@gnoble79@KirkSpano In all seriousness - I came across his writings for the first time in 2008 or whenever it was, allowed myself to be influenced by his smart sounding pessimism, and missed out on multiple life changing opportunities because of it. Tune out this noise. Just follow the charts.
@VolMomPickens@Vol_Softball Never lose your joy. What an amazing reminder. We had a blast watching the Lady Vols this season and wish you all the best in your next chapter!
@VolMomPickens It was an amazing win for sure! Very excited to watch your Lady Vols keep it rolling tomorrow!! Our VT Hokie house is rooting for you all. Knoxville is a very special place.
@SJosephBurns@grok TSM has been hiding in plain sight for many years now. I believe there was a stretch back in 2020 when anyone could have bought it with a 4.0% dividend yield. That would have been a home run addition to any portfolio regardless of investing style.
@iancassel That, and those who were fortunate to get in really really early …. and that comfortable cushion allows them to just sit back and ride it out long term.
@RealJGBanks My goal for all of this has been to retire my mom as well. She is a widow now and I’m an only child. I’ve made progress but not as quickly as I had hoped. Will start following you … interested in your insights. Thanks for all of the helpful info thus far.
