We’ve been told AI will wipe out most white-collar jobs.
Yet high-fee mutual funds still manage trillions in AUM — 50 years after the first low-cost index fund launched
Luck has played a huge role in my life:
- I was born to two educated parents in the United States
- No major medical issues & an ability to focus/problem solve
- My parents created a culture of education and an expectation we would get As in school
- Growing up, great public schools growing, a safe neighborhood, and a competitive friend group that made it cool to succeed
- Scholarships covered my way through college & grad school
The people I admire most are the ones who are self aware about the role of hard work AND luck
Admitting luck takes nothing away from hard work. But it shows that if any one of the above things weren't true -- most of which were largely out of my control -- I wouldn't be who I am today
How much did luck play a role in your life?
"Trump's profound ignorance - a vast mental wasteland of incuriousness, guarded by stupidity - is, like his bottomless vulgarity, his unalloyed corruption, and his refusal to abide by any convention of civilized conduct, his superpower."

Manitoba motorists – help make this a safe summer season for all road users.
Give cyclists the space they need to ride safely. Pass at a safe distance (one metre is the minimum distance recommended).
We all have a role to play in road safety.
