@MTGOP The Montana plan does not prevent Montana businesses from participating in the political process.. Nothing prevents them from going to the office of their favorite congress critter every day and taking them to lunch to tell them how to vote.. Nothing at all..
๐จThe MT Chamber of Commerce, the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce, and the Billings Chamber of Commerce have taken a clear and united stand AGAINST Constitutional Initiative 194, also known as the "Montana Plan."
"Under [CI-194], family-owned businesses including farms, ranches, restaurants, and retail stores could not respond publicly to a ballot initiative targeting them. A Main Street restaurant could not support a local levy to improve public safety. A small business coalition could not push back against misleading claims that threaten their livelihoods and their employeesโ jobs. These are not hypothetical concerns; they are the everyday realities of how Montana businesses engage in the civic life of our communities."
"Under [the Montana Plan] a single well-funded outsider could bankroll a campaign to devastate a Montana agricultural practice, a logging operation, or a ranching family, while the Montana businesses under attack would be legally silenced. That is not campaign finance reform. That is a one-sided disarmament of Montanaโs own voices."
Today, we are launching Taxpayer Protection Now, a statewide awareness campaign calling for taxpayer protections โ whether voluntary, statutory, or constitutional โ that cap state, school, and local government budget growth and automatically return overcollections to taxpayers.
Our President & CEO, @Cotton_MT said it best:
๐จWATCH: @SpeakerTimJones and the Network's Montana State Director, Darin Gaub, talk about how liberal Republican lawmakers are in EVERY state - even red states like Montana.
In the GOP primaries earlier this week, the @MTFreedomCaucus and their friends helped defeat 5 of them - two of the so-called "Nasty 9" and three of the "Dirty Dozen".
Teamwork makes the dream work!
Tuesday June 2nd was a great night for freedom, change, and a brighter future for Montana. Congratulations to AFP-Montana endorsed candidates on their primary election victories:
State Senate:
โข Caleb Hinkle (SD-34)
โข Steve LaPraim (SD-42)
State House:
โข Trevor Funseth (HD-21)
โข Finley Warden (HD-13)
โข Trevor Walter (HD-69)
โข Trish Schreiber (HD-76)
โข Kim Dailey (HD-85)
We also congratulate the many other successful candidates in primaries across Montana who share a vision of limited government, lower taxes, greater accountability, and bottom-up empowerment.
While AFP did not endorse in every race, voters across Montana elected a number of reform-minded candidates and, in many cases, chose to replace incumbents who had continued to uphold the status quo and support the growth of government.
The message from voters was clear: Montanans want leaders focused on expanding opportunity, increasing accountability, and putting people ahead of government.
Now itโs time to get to work.
AFP-Montana looks forward to working with legislators in the Capitol to advance policies that make Montana more free, prosperous, and affordable.
Our limited-government priorities remain clear: achieving universal school choice, moving Montana to a flat income tax, advancing meaningful judicial reforms that restore proper checks and balances, reforming burdensome occupational licensing laws, and building on the landmark housing reforms of recent years.
The election is over, but the work begins now.
We now have an opportunity to deliver meaningful reforms and get great legislation to Governor Gianforteโs desk during his final legislative sessionโcreating a stronger future and greater opportunity for all Montanans.
Thank you to everyone who stepped forward to challenge the status quo and fight for a better Montana. Whether you were successful last night or not, we are grateful for your willingness to serve.
Running for office requires tremendous sacrificeโnot only from candidates, but from their families, supporters, and volunteers. We appreciate every individual who put their name on the ballot, offered voters a choice, and engaged in the important work of self-government.
Curtis Cochran was censured by the Montana Republican Party. His voting record is so bad, he worked with a Soros-backed dark money group to kill school choice.
He shouldn't be representing Montanans.
