was there some marketing study that found gen Z likes it when huge brands post in this type of tone? Can’t imagine not seeing it as terminal levels of cringe
people love trashing PS and especially the PSFC to feel like “one of the real ones.” it’s just as much of a hallucination or projection as any other nauseating neighborhood critique (“yes i live in wburg but in a more authentic way than those other people”)
I microdose the western massachusetts experience by living in park slope where most residents secretly dream of having the power to arrest people at the slightest inconvenience, but channel that dysfunction into their position at the food co-op
@themfgfellow eh, cheapish toys have always had molding artifacts like shrinkage and flash. most companies calculate that kids don’t notice or care (probably rightfully). the defects rarely get so bad as to be anything but cosmetic, it’s just quite basic tooling for quite basic products.
Billy Bob Thornton says a Hollywood party conversation made him realize he was truly an outsider in Los Angeles.
A woman found out he was from Arkansas and asked, completely straight faced:
“What do you people do down there?”
“Billy Bob Thornton: ...But she said it was fascinating to me, and she goes, "And you came out here from, what is it, Alabama or something like that?" And I said, "Arkansas." She goes, "Arkansas." And with a straight face, said to me, "What do you people do down there?"
(Joe Rogan cracks up laughing)
Billy Bob Thornton: I was like, "Well..." (Joe Rogan continues laughing) ...and I said, thinking she would get the joke, I said, "Uh, we mostly lay around on the porch with our hound dog and swat flies." She goes, "Oh, interesting, interesting."
(Joe Rogan cracks up laughing)
Billy Bob Thornton: It's like, babe, I was... I was fucking with you there. Uh, and, uh... but that was one of the moments where I realized that I really was an outsider out there, you know? And people ask me about my longevity in this business, and I always say it's because I stay out of it.”
these types of posts are so tiresome. every language has incredible depth and poetry. if someone can’t tell, it reveals the limits of their fluency or literacy; NOT some kind of inferiority of the language itself.
urdu has a word for the pain of separation that contains, within it, the assumption that reunion is cosmically possible. while english is so spiritually bankrupt it can name the ache but not imagine its end.
@TurnipJam@DerSpitzbub@MachinePix yeah but we don’t know enough about site conditions to say if it’s successful or not. it’s possible that it’s not optimal but works well enough and literally WAS made from on-hand supplies. no point trying to optimize something we don’t know the real life constraints of.
