Massively. Big distance makes good habits harder. You can get a job closer to work and just find yourself losing weight. All of a sudden gym is possible. All of a sudden you’re not too tired to cook. Your social life picks up cos you can accommodate after work drinks with friends. You can be a whole different person simply by working closer to home.

Getting a will is important but getting one with a bank can be very costly. They appointment themselves as executor in your Will. The problem with this is that say for example you are from Venda and now your bank executor is based in Cape Town, your estate will have to pay for all their flight and travel costs. This can drastically reduce the money left for your dependents to inherit.

Banks also generally charge the highest possible fees.

Another thing is all banks care about is money, if you have your properties sitting in a trust and your life covers pointing to your trust, the bank can be very reluctant to execute your wil because they won't make much money from it (I know someone who's actually going through this issue with their parents estate)

And R30k is supposed to do that, the problem is we are getting double taxed. Government schools aren't great, so you go to private. Infrastructure to our homes isn't great so you have to get solar & a water tank. If we had a competent government, R30k would be more than enough.
