Rebero Hill will soon have a dedicated running track!

We visited the site to see the progress of the ongoing works. Preparations are currently underway for the installation of the running surface, alongside the construction of drainage systems and retaining walls.

It won’t be long before we can enjoy this new facility, designed to promote physical activity, healthier lifestyles and the prevention of non-communicable diseases.

We look forward to seeing people running, walking and staying active at Rebero!

The World Bank Implementation Support Mission for the GEF-8 Nyungwe–Ruhango Corridor Restoration Project began its field visits today in Nyamagabe District, led by Task Team Leader Tuuli Johanna Bernardini.

The World Bank team, accompanied by a delegation from @REMA_Rwanda led by @mugabo_alex, was received by Nyamagabe District Mayor @Niyomwungeri_H, who reaffirmed the district's commitment to the project's successful implementation. The team visited Mwogo River catchment, one of the project's key intervention areas for ecosystem restoration.

Funded by @theGEF through the World Bank, Nyungwe–Ruhango Corridor Restoration Project is being implemented by REMA in partnership with the Districts of Nyamagabe, Nyanza, and Ruhango. Local authorities in Nyamagabe District were also oriented on the World Bank's Environmental and Social Framework to strengthen their capacity for effective project implementation.

The mission will continue in Nyanza District on Tuesday before concluding in Ruhango District on Wednesday.

Gen Kainerugaba Arrives in Kigali for Bilateral Engagements

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces (UPDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has arrived in Kigali for an official working visit.

During his stay, Gen Kainerugaba is slated to hold discussions with the senior leadership of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) and is also scheduled to meet with Rwandan President H.E. Paul Kagame.

The talks are expected to center on deepening military cooperation and other areas of mutual interest.

The visit marks Gen Kainerugaba's latest high-level engagement in the Rwandan capital, underscoring the continued strengthening of bilateral ties between the two neighbours.

Upon arrival, Gen Kainerugaba was received by his Rwandan counterpart, Chief of Defence Staff Gen Mubarakh Muganga, alongside the Commander of the Republican Guard, Major General Willy Rwagasana and the Ugandan Defence Attaché to Rwanda, Col Ezekeil Matsiko.

🚨 Today, about 80 new cabinet and state ministers were sworn in before President Museveni at State House Entebbe, kicking off the 2026 to 2031 term. But two notable names were missing: First Lady Janet Museveni, who’s been Education Minister since 2016, didn’t show up for vetting and skipped the oath, raising questions about her health.

And Dr. Lawrence Muganga, who Museveni had nominated as State Minister for Internal Affairs, got rejected by Parliament’s Appointments Committee over concerns he holds multiple passports from Uganda, Canada, and Rwanda. Muganga insists he’s Ugandan by birth, born in Seeta, Mukono, but couldn’t fully satisfy the committee on renouncing the other citizenships. So both of them missed today’s big swearing-in ceremony.

The discussion underscored several strategic priorities, including:

✅ Prioritisation of scalable and high-impact sectors, particularly methane reduction, energy transition, e-mobility, and clean infrastructure;
