Today, we had the opportunity to visit Murambi Genocide Memorial.
Through history and testimony, we were reminded of the pain, the loss, and the unimaginable tragedy of the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994. Walking through the memorial grounds offered a moment of deep reflection on the lives that were lost and the stories that must never be forgotten.
At Murambi, over 50,000 victims were killed, with only 34 survivors. This reality deepened our understanding and reinforced the importance of preserving this history with truth and respect.
As Rwanda Green Fund, this experience reinforces the importance of remembrance, unity, and our shared responsibility to contribute to a future grounded in dignity, compassion, and peace.

From green financing to circular economy presentations, Day 2 of #GreenEconomyWeek explored how financing tools, innovation, and stronger systems can help unlock greener and more climate-resilient development in Rwanda.
Here are the key moments that shaped today’s discussions.
Last Sunday at Ngaruyinka Playground, Kinyinya Sector, Gasabo District
The Rwanda Green Fund (RGF), in partnership with the @CityofKigali and the Ministry of Environment (@EnvironmentRw) , held the first community engagement and awareness event for the Ngaruyinka Climate-Resilient Urban Upgrade Project — a key component of the Green City Kigali initiative financed by the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
Local leaders introduced the project’s purpose and partnership, while the Project Manager presented an overview of the planned interventions, and the Environmental and Social Safeguards (E&S) expert explained key principles to be applied during implementation.
Over 180 residents and local representatives participated in the session, which included the formation and election of two key community structures — the Gender Mainstreaming Committee (GMC) and the Grievance Redress Committee (GRC) — to enhance inclusiveness, accountability, and grievance management.
Residents welcomed the project’s interventions, particularly road improvements, fair compensation processes, and the transparent approach to community involvement. The meeting closed with an interactive Q&A session and a joint commitment to continue collaboration as the project moves into implementation.

On the sidelines of the 2025 Busan Global City Tourism Summit, the Mayor of the City of Kigali, @DusengiyumvaS, appeared on Busan e-FM radio (BeFM) to discuss the future of city tourism and explore ways to strengthen collaboration and partnerships between @BusanCityGovt and Kigali.
He highlighted Kigali’s reputation as Africa’s cleanest city, our 38th global ranking for safety, and our position as the second city in Africa for hosting global events.
The Mayor also spoke about Kigali’s remarkable transformation, a city defined by hospitality, unity, and innovation, now emerging as a vibrant hub for partnerships and global opportunities in real estate, tourism, and other key sectors.
