How strange these times have become!
It is disgraceful for a disciple (murīd) to be inconsistent in his loyalty to his shaykh: he takes the covenant (ʿahd) from one shaykh, then goes to another and follows him, perhaps even taking another covenant from him.
Our Shaykh and Imām, Sīdī Ṣāliḥ al-Jaʿfarī (may Allah be pleased with him), warned against this in his book Al-Ilhām al-Nāfiʿ li-Kulli Qāṣid (Beneficial Inspiration for Every Seeker), where he wrote:
"Among the calamities that befall a disciple is forgetting his shaykh, attaching his heart to someone else, reciting the litanies (awrād) of another shaykh while abandoning those of his own shaykh. It is then said to him, as Sīdī ʿAbd al-Raḥīm al-Barʿī (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
'You preferred another over me, but
As a man treats others, so shall he be treated.'
Or that he takes a covenant other than his own by entering a path other than the path of his shaykh."
So beware—truly beware—of such actions, no matter how enticing the alternatives may seem. The moment your heart inclines away from your shaykh toward another, you have departed from true discipleship and from the spiritual training of your shaykh, thereby depriving yourself of his spiritual support (madad).
The Ocean of Knowledge and Treasure of Understanding, the Azharī scholar Imām Ṣāliḥ al-Jaʿfarī (may Allah be pleased with him), also said:
Whoever turns away has turned away from his own happiness,
And lives haunted by delusions and idleness.
He also said:
Listen to the words of the Shaykh, and remember the favor
He has bestowed upon you; do not oppose him in argument.
For through him come the spiritual openings, by your Lord's permission, so remain patient;
His pleasure with you is the just commander.
Purify your heart toward him and take
The litany he has given you—that is the immediate gain.
Leave all else, for if you turn your gaze to another,
You will spoil what you had attained, and it will diminish.
The father of the spiritual path rejects plurality,
Just as the father who cares for you rejects having rivals.
If you seek another father besides him,
Then you are like a foundling—and foundlings bear misfortunes.
So preserve your duty to your shaykh as much as you can,
And remain upon the way of the early gnostic imams.
The shaykh stands guard over the litanies like a protecting army;
If you abandon them, there will be none left to defend you.
But if you recite them, you are counted among his children—
Children of the spirit in the highest realms, O noble one!
Our Imām, the knower of Allah, Sīdī Ṣāliḥ al-Jaʿfarī (may Allah be pleased with him), also said:
"If your heart inclines toward another shaykh or another spiritual path, then remember the words of your own shaykh—that you are under the care and spiritual training of the Prophet ﷺ. Therefore, after the Messenger of Allah, do not seek another shaykh to train you. Know that such an inclination comes from Satan, and through it the disciple is veiled from the secrets of the path, its spiritual assistance, and its divine inspirations. We seek refuge in Allah from that.
"Do not belittle any spiritual path other than your own, for they are all upon guidance from their Lord. Every shaykh has his own distinct spiritual method. Never say to someone of another path, 'Our path is better than yours,' or 'Our shaykh is better than your shaykh,' for this is سوء الأدب (poor spiritual etiquette) toward the shaykhs and is among the things that sever spiritual progress.
"Do not extend your hand to anyone else to take another spiritual path after you have already extended it to your own shaykh. Doing so—Allah forbid—brings harm. We seek refuge in Allah from mixing paths. Just as a person has only one father, so too on the spiritual path he has only one shaykh. For when you follow the path of a shaykh with sincere love for him, the spiritual state (ḥāl) that he possessed in this world is transmitted to you."

I know someone who converted like 15-20 people to Islam in the US. He is a little older than Sneako. I told him to get married and settle down. It grounds you. He was flying too high. But he was hooked on conversions. Kind of got a high when someone took a shahadah. The dude is now a drunk, broke, and totally miserable. He complains, "why has Allah abandoned me while I did all this?" Some of the people he converted have better trust in God than him.

I don't question my friend’s or Sneako’s sincerity. I question the preparedness. When you jump into this field and make it your life's only purpose, you build a dangerous complex : you start believing all those shahadahs behind you are a shield. So when suffering comes, you're not ready for it. It hits as "why is this happening to ME, after everything I did?" But hardships (and they are of a 1000 hues) doesn't spare you because of your conversion mission. Nobody is exempt.
These guys are in a different universe of dopamine hits, sensory overload, emotion overload. There's going to be a burnout, and it won't be good.
Remember folks, no mission is bigger than your own salvation. Don't overdo community service to the point of neglecting your own self. Beware.

The officer is seen kneeling over the kid and repeatedly punching him while the child begs “Stop, bro.” The boy is clearly not fighting back, yet this piece of shit keeps hitting him like he’s enjoying every second of it.

America already made daylight saving time permanent once. In December 1973, 79% of Americans supported it and Nixon signed it into law. By February 1974, eight weeks into the experiment, support had collapsed to 42%. The policy never changed. Winter arrived.

Sunrise in Washington DC came at 8:27am. Kids left for school in total darkness, carrying flashlights and wearing reflective tape. When Congress moved to repeal, members cited the deaths of eight Florida schoolchildren in the first weeks of the change.

The energy case collapsed too. The whole point was the oil embargo, and the Department of Transportation concluded the fuel savings were too small to matter. Ten months after signing it, Congress repealed it and Ford put the country back on standard time.

There's a mechanism that makes this cycle repeat: permanent DST is only ever voted on when the sun is up. Polls run in the abstract, votes happen in warm months, and the benefit, a free hour of evening light, is easy to imagine year-round. The cost is concentrated in about 10 weeks of dark winter mornings and only becomes real after implementation. So the policy polls beautifully right up until January.

Today's vote happened in July. The 1974 law passed in December, right before the exact winter that killed it. If this clears the Senate, the first real test arrives in January 2027, when sunrise in Indianapolis comes after 9am.

Congress just picked the one version of clock reform America has already tried, hated, and repealed.
