@luke_metro Time to decompress and recharge is often limited, or not even available.
Over time this deficit accumulates.
Eventually, the only remedies available are extended leave, or flat out leaving for a new start.
@luke_metro A lot of good thoughts on this already but I’ll add mine here.
Tech roles have a major creative component — a lot of mental energy is expended solving something. And then it’s onto the next problem.
@thorpus Climate change is also a general concern of mine. The next year or so could be a taste of what’s to come, with this combination of drought and pandemic-disrupted supply chains.
@thorpus On an at-home level — lettuce, micro greens, and herbs all grow well indoors with appropriate artificial light. Hydroponic systems will speed up growth and improve yield.
Other veggies are possible but you’re not going to get family-size yields without serious effort.
@elleduncanESPN I’m fairly confident on these as being >= 10 viewings.
1) National Treasure
2) Shawshank Redemption
3) Die Hard: With a Vengeance
4) Air Force One
5) Jurassic Park
I think I could be happy in any type of job, as long as I could focus on one particular role.
When I’ve been downbeat at work, the root cause has almost always been excessive context switching from carrying too many different responsibilities.
