Speaking last night at an appreciation dinner for members of parliament who nullified the MoU between the leader of breakaway but unrecognized Somaliland and Ethiopia’s PM, the President of Somalia, @HassanSMohamud, said:

"My message to the government and people of Ethiopia is: do not deceive yourselves; it will not happen; it shall not happen that Somali territory, sovereign today, will lose its independence. The soil and water are ours.

We are not after your land and territory, and we will not negotiate, collaborate, or make a deal involving even an inch of Somalia’s territory."

He continued:

"And for others who may be thinking and plotting behind the scenes that they may be able to help Ethiopia with this flagrant aggression, my message to them is: if you think Somalis are pushovers when it comes to our territory, we are not."

His statement — "We are not after your land and territory, and we will not negotiate, collaborate, or make a deal involving even an inch of Somalia’s territory" — will be remembered in the annals of Somali history, much like Britons remember Winston Churchill’s:
